minicapt,
When I was in Ghana, the USAID guy who came to Bolga every six months or so brought a projector and the film Great Expectations to the school for Saturday night entertainment. My students had no idea what was happening in the film. They sat near me so I could describe what they were watching. I thought the film was excellent. My students were not so enthusiastic.
That second article was totally engrossing. It has been a long while since I have read the novel though there are parts of it I haven’t ever forgotten. Back then I knew there were autobiographical elements, but over time, I’ve forgotten. The article brought it all back and also gave me more information about Dickens himself. I had remembered his father had been in debtor’s prison, but I didn’t realize Dickens had worked and did not join the rest of the family. I liked that he was into color despite the criticism. On one of my England trips, I went to Dickens’ house in London. I remember looking out the window on the landing between first and second floor. I loved looking out and knowing that Dickens did the same think on his way to the second floor.

Gnu,
This is the most interesting video I’ve ever seen. The apes are the singers! who knew? They even dance well. Coldplay is perfect.
