I enjoyed the Homefront article. I remember several stories my mother told me about growing up during the war.
I have a ration book which my mother had used. She used to tell us how she’d put a line straight up on the backs of her legs so it looked as if she was wearing stockings. They’d take lard and color it yellow as if it were butter. My mother had many stories.
