Out of Highland Park Michigan, The family home is long since gone and the area today can be considered rough.
It’s strange to think that Bill Haley was considered an “oldies act” in the 60s and 70s touring with so many different Comets before he died at the age of 55 around 1980
Today Springsteen, at 66, sold out the Palace in nano seconds and was getting $175 a ticket in a 20,000 seater arena. I looked at available tickets, hated the location and passed.i was not spending $350 to sit at the “other end” of the arena. See you later alligator.
Musical relevance and perception of age has changed greatly. Now where did I want to sit for Pet Sounds

My Dear Hedley,
“Musical relevance and perception of age has changed greatly,” is so very true.
During his 50’s hey day I wasn’t into music yet. It was later on that I found Bill Haley and had to play catch up.

I had the same catch up to do with the Beatles. It was after the White Album was released that I sat and listened to it, discovering that I liked them…a lot. A girlfriend had played “I Want To Hold Your Hand” for me in some ecstatic trance some years before. I thought to myself, “Ick!”. I’m now a fan.

Rick,
I was on to the Beatles right away. It had nothing to do with their hair but those voices were amazing. I was glad to be a fan.

Do you know this incredible song about the death of Bill Haley?

Thank you, Mark
I haven’t ever heard this before. I’m a Tom Russell fan. He sings great stories. That guitar is amazing.
