Edith Piaf, the Little Sparrow of Paris and one of the greatest singers ever, would have been 100 today so here’s a Christmas song from this side of the ocean:
Edith Piaf – Le Noël de la rue

Birgit, I have never really known how to cope with all the Piaf material, I have a general appreciation but have never been sure how much I can absorb
This isn’t negative in any way, we just saw a boxset commemorative and thought it was to extensive

MDH,
I too am ambivalent. I think the first time I heard her was La Vie En Rose. I was hooked.

Birgit,
Thank you!
The song is lovely.

The line was very long for “Santa Claus, the Elves Awaken”

Gnu,
I liked this song back in the day and continue to like it. It was a different folk sound.
This is the first time I remember seeing her other than in a picture. According to the rolling information she is extremely talented. I didn’t know she wrote this song.

Gnu,
Why I know this song I have no idea. I’m thinking my mother. That woman can belt out a song!

Gnu,
I think this is the perfect Christmas song. It has everything of winter and Christmas.

Gnu,
I liked this but now it is on the radio so often I’m a bit tired of it.

Gnu,
I don’t remember hearing this one too often. Do you think Christmas time is here again?

Gnu,
My mother used to read this to us every Christmas Eve.
