“And then we’ll nail it to the ceiling: a Chinese Christmas tree!”
Cheers

Gnu,
I remember this song though I didn’t remember her name. I went to wiki and was amazed at the longevity of her career. She was 14 when this was released.

Gnu,
A great choice! She really belts out this song. Lesley had so many hit songs. She even wrote one which was nominated for an Oscar.
Lesley died too young at 68.

Gnu,
I think I can sing along with all of their songs. This is about my favorite of all the girl groups!

Gnu,
I never realized until much later that this song is country.
This song was just skirting actual history, but I did learn the British lost the battle of New Orleans.

Gnu,
I was always disappointed by Burl after I found out he named names to the House Un-American ActivitiesCommittee. So many others refused.
I did like his early folk songs. He introduced me to some songs I’d never heard before which sometimes became hits for the folk groups coming behind him.

Gnu,
This is such a standard now. Her career started when she was only ten-it has been amazing since then!

Gnu,
The first few notes are so well known that just about everyone can identify the song before it really starts.
I don’t think I’ve seen his picture before this video.
I say I’m not a country fan but I surely am for this song.
