Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head: B.J. Thomas
I remember the first time I heard this. It was in the Peace Corps Hostel in Accra. I didn’t know a thing about the song. It had been released in October 1969, my first year in Ghana. I had missed it.

Loved this song and it meant the really fab “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid”
And who had a gigantic hit with this in the UK ? None other than everyone’s favorite super handsome Frenchman Sachel Distel. So loved was Sasha that Morecambe and Wise that he became Slasher Distillery.

My Dear Hedley,
I didn’t see this movie until much later as I didn’t even know it existed. When I did, it was, as you’ve said, really fab.
Sacha Distel is totally unknown to me so I went hunting:

Rachel ??????
Its Sacha or Slasher but certainly not Rachel.
A very “worldly” fellow by all accounts

MDH,
The machine chose the name automatically. I didn’t even notice. Thanks for pointing it out! He has now returned to his original name and sex.

And here is the man who “dated” Brigitte Bardot singing it in French and everything – Way to go Slasher

My Dear Hedley,
“Distel’s version reached No.10 in the UK. (The original recording by B. J. Thomas, a million-seller in the US, had been only a minor British chart entry.)”
I get his popularity!! He’s adorable!

As adorable as The Property Brothers ? Or just a different era ?
November 23, 2015 at 2:22 pm
MDH,
A different era.
Can you see either of The Property Brothers, even Drew, wearing that big gold chain?
November 23, 2015 at 2:43 pm
Neither Mr Drew nor Mr Scott would likely sport a gigantic gold neck chain – they were on Family Feud with Steve last week – all my favorites colliding.
However not only does Sacha carry it off but he even gets away with the shirt collar wide enough to fly a 747

MDH,
I did notice the opened shirt collar, but I like the shirt and the collar so I didn’t mention it. He didn’t have it as far down as all those mafia men of the 70’s movies with open collar shirts, hairy chests and big gold chains.
