It looks like GnuFool has taken the day off, so I’ve gathered a few songs in his honor. Can’t believe how many songs I have on my hard drive with “fool,” “fools,” “foolish,” “fooled,” etc. I had such a hard time choosing and ended up leaving off The Who, Doris Day, Aretha, Brenda Lee, Gene Pitney, Alma Cogan, and many, many more. Let’s start with those rascals Becker & Fagan before they got so cranky.

im6,
Great start to your fool theme. I haven’t heard this one in forever. Love it!

So many great versions of this song on YouTube, but I decided to stick to the original from “Look Sharp.”

im6,
I don’t even remember this one. Was there a year I was locked in a convent?
She was beautiful.

Karl Wallinger left The Waterboys to start World Party. One of my very favorite bands of all time, but truth be told, it’s often just Karl by himself spending hours and hours in the studio. Don’t forget your life jacket…

im6,
They disabled the video!

Was the second video disabled? I could play it here.

im6,
The second version got passed the rats who take down videos. I swear this is a group and song I haven’t ever heard before this. I’m not sure yet if I like it.

I think he went by Ricky at the time. A vastly underrated talent who left us way too soon.

im6,
I have always been a Rick (y) Nelson fan. He had a great voice, and I agree he was underrated.
I don’t know if it was my computer or the video as lips and words didn’t agree. It was like watching a movie in Japanese.

I think whoever uploaded the song used existing video from a variety of sources. It definitely doesn’t sync up, but I liked all the different shots of him, so I chose this version.

im6,
It was all the different shots I love, lips synched or not. He was a handsome guy.

People get sick of The Beatles, but there are a ton of good cover versions of their music. This is one of the best. Lead vocals by Herb Alpert’s wife, Lani Hall.

img,
I love, love, love this song. It is my favorite, even more than the Beatles.
