“Though sympathy alone can’t alter facts, it can help to make them more bearable.”

I can’t put my finger on which one but my wheezing reminds me of sound effects from a movie. They are a bit like metal scraping metal. I’m thinking this cold and being by myself for so long are affecting my brain. Sound effects from Wheezing?

Things are getting better. The cold’s grip is weakening. I only woke up twice last night and managed to sleep 11 interrupted hours. It looks like I have to go out sometime today. I haven’t any bread or soup or anything which tantalizes my taste buds. Sweets keep coming to mind. I’m thinking chocolate chip cookies are a possible remedy. I suspect, though, I’ll probably stay home. It takes far too much energy to get up and out even for chocolate chip cookies. Besides, I think I need a nap.

The day is cold. The sun pops in and out but is merely decorative when it appears. It isn’t warmth. I turned on my heat for one cycle this morning. My bed and comforter are sounding more and more appealing.

Not being around enough people is the reason I’m sick. When I worked, I was around kids with their various ills and ailments.  I developed an immunity. I don’t even remember when last I had a cold though this may be a whole different strain of something. I think I caught it during my reunion last weekend. With all those people in one room, someone must have had a germ or two and shared. How kind!

I’m combing the TV for classic horror movies. I’m thinking the Holy Trinity of Frankenstein, Dracula and The Mummy. I’m not including The Wolf Man as I always feel really sad for Larry Talbot. He didn’t deserve his fate.

I watch NCIS even though Abby and her pre-adolescent prattle drive me crazy. Just a while ago I happened on the last 5 minutes of The Brady Bunch and left it on as I wanted to watch what followed it. During those 5 minutes I had an epiphany. Abby based her character on Cindy Brady. They have the same child-like voice, intonations and the same childish indignations. Trust me on this one. The only NCIS mystery left is why the prop guy doesn’t realize we hear the echo of the empty coffee cup when Gibbs puts his coffee on the desk.

It’s Sweden v Denmark – good luck Christer, we are pulling for you

This Sparty house is still gloating after the incredible finish last night down the big house. Amazing win for the good guys

Now it’s time for THE Detroit Lions against that team from chicago

Can’t pretend I have high hopes 🙂 But I’ve always liked danish football so I’ll survive if they win 🙂 Besides, I already have the English team to look forward to 🙂

      My Dear Hedley,
It is quite the sports weekend in the Hedley Manor. I will be watching the Pats dismantle the Colts this evening.

I didn’t wake up during the night either and I do hope this is the end of the cold. WE first hade a cold and foggy morning here but it turned to warm with sunshine after noon and no wind so it has been rather pleasant here.

I watched NCIS Los Angeles today, I had already seen these episodes but since it wasn’t about an Islamic terrorist organisation as it has been for quite some time, I enjoyed the episodes anyway 🙂 Hetty is always an interesting carachter to watch.

    Have a great day!
    Christer.

      Christer,
I just took a long nap as I still don’t feel all that great. I have died myself and hope to begin to feel better again.

Hetty is most interesting. I didn’t even know she was a she when I saw her in The Year of Living Dangerously. She was so good and deserved the Oscar she got.

Today was gorgeous with mostly clear skies and high temperature in the upper 70s. I’m glad that you are feeling better today. I’ve been lucky so far this fall and I haven’t gotten a cold. I will keep my fingers crossed.

I spent the better part of the day reloading OSX Lion onto my iMac from Apple. I called the Apple store to find out how much a new internal hard drive would set me back because my computer was running slower than molasses. My call was redirected to the Apple help department where a US technician talked me through downloading a fresh copy of Lion and restoring my files from my Time Machine backup. It took most of the afternoon to download and install the software. The diagnosis and help was free and everything seems to be running fine. Just having a help person that is an American is worth the money buying a Mac.

The Blue Jays have one more shot at defeating the Royals tomorrow and tonight the Mets are giving it to the Cubs. Who knows it’s baseball. The Rangers won the first two in Toronto, lost the next two in Arlington and lost the third game back in Toronto. The last time the Cubs were even in the World Series was during WWII and no one is alive today when they last won the World Series.

      Bob,
I don’t remember when last I had a cold. This is the first one in a long time, and I quickly remembered how miserable they made me.

I don’t now what today was like as I stayed inside. The sun was around most of the day, but it was cold when I went to get the papers. Northern regions had some snow.

I just loaded El Capitan on my MAc. It works well, but I don’t know yet everything it does yet.

I’m watching the Pats who aren’t beating the Colts as much as they should be. The Pats are only 6 points up at the end of the 3rd.

I am ultimately rooting for the Cubs!!

My iMac is a mid 2010 version with only 4GB of ram and I don’t know if it will work smoothly on this old computer without spending money on adding more memory. The Cowboys have a by week so they can hold a victory party. 🙂

As a Red Sox fan you understand rooting for underdogs. 🙂

        Bob,
I totally understand rooting for the underdogs. I did it for years. Now I’m doing it again. Their glory days seem to be over though the young guys are great.

I’d probably add the memory rather than get a new computer. My MAC is getting on up there too.

    Hi Kat,
My heat is on. Period. No more “only for one cycle”. It’s cold here. There’s a light on underneath the thermostat so it doesn’t drop to the threshold temperature too fast. I do that because the door to the front porch is open so Rocky can sun himself out there. It’s warmer out there anyway. I wish I could pump the sun and heat into the house. If the porch chairs were more comfortable, I would probably spend every cold sunny day out there baking in the warmth. Nothing would get done inside. Like that’s different. 😀

I was out there for awhile yesterday and discovered, to my great joy, that I don’t have anymore clown barf sock yarn stashed out there. I’ve been giving it away to my friends for a couple of years now. Apparently I’ve caught up with myself. Not to worry. There’s yarn stashed in other places around the house. If there’s a fiber famine, I will not be unprepared. 🙂

I hope you are feeling better this morning than you were yesterday. I would pass you chocolate chip cookies through the internets but the only ones I have are white chocolate macadamia nut cookies. And they’re frozen dough at the moment. 😦

    Enjoy the day.

      Hi Caryn,
My heat is on today. I woke up to quite a cold house, and I want cozy warmth instead. The fur on Fern and Gracie felt cold to the touch-poor babies.

I am a bit better but still exhausted and still coughing. I’m going to postpone my friends’ visit this week as I doubt I’ll be completely over this in a couple of days. My friend brought a lemon donut, my favorite, bread and chocolate truffle cookies. She even brought me a Halloween treat and a gourmet biscuit for Mis Gracie. I am quite happy now.

      Stay warm!
