“Sickness is mankind’s greatest defect.”

I’m here, but I won’t be for long. Even after 12 hours sleep last night, I’m still in the throes of this pestilence. I’m wondering if this is one of the plagues of Egypt somehow left off the list. My sister said this is something going around. Not that I’m happy for other people’s suffering but I’m glad not to suffer alone.

I continue to dose myself with a variety of medicines. The cough is still the main target. If I were outside coughing, people would run in terror at fear of catching this. I’m thinking Stephen King and the Stand and Captain Tripps.

The day is lovely, autumn warm and sunny. More and more leaves are falling and the ground is red and yellow. Flowers still brighten the gardens especially the mums in so many warm colors. Pumpkins are on front door steps and I’ve seen a few scarecrows. Cape Cod is always beautiful this time of year.

I’ll drink plenty of liquids and continue to dose myself. I’m also going back to bed. Hard to believe I know, but I’m already tired.

I think the time is here for the Chicago Cubs to win a world series. Don’t you?

I finally got one nights sleep without waking up but I’m so tired now (8pm) that I’m on my way to bed. So I fully understand how You feel and we are most likely having the same thing.

I do hope You’ll get better faster than I.

    Christer.

      Christer,
I’m glad I have a companion but feel sorry for the both of us. This cough is the worst.

      Sleep well and get better!

    Hi Kat,
And you have another companion here. I am nursing a cough and a cold that wants to come, but I won’t let it. Sleeping when I can, and my temp is down to 96.7. I keep a mirror nearby to blow on it to make sure I haven’t turned into a ghost. At least it is the time for it, being Halloween… I am excited about who I might haunt if that occurs. Be well, and I’m sorry the cough is worse.
    Please take care,
    Lori and her Crew

      Hi Lori,
Thanks for the well wishes. I tried to nap but couldn’t so I read in bed for a while.

The cold is coming the next few days, but tomorrow I have to go out for bread and a few other provisions including more cough medicine. It does seem to help.

I’m doing my best to get rid of this cold. I’ve had enough!

    Hi Kat,
The only time I had a cough that nasty with that much fatigue was when my annual bout of bronchitis turned into pneumonia. I walked around with it for a long time, too, because bronchitis was sort of normal for me. One day the coughing started and literally would not stop. I could barely catch a breath. I knew it was too serious for CVS muscle rub and hot lemon tea. Off to the doctor. I have bronchitis, I said. No, you don’t, he said. It’s pneumonia. Oh great.

Take care of yourself and rest up.

      Hi Caryn,
Every fall when I worked, my cold became bronchitis. This is the first one in a while, and I suspect it has become bronchitis. The other night was bad so I’m using my inhaler often and taking cough syrup every 4 hours. If this isn’t better by Monday, I’ll call the doctor.

    Kat,

The dogs are outside—barking wildly—at the deer. There’s a herd of 12 or so. They come up to see if the horses have left any grain. The horses never leave any feed. And the deer never give up thinking just this once– they will. With our dry fall this year—deer are finding less and less forage in the woods and fields around here. They’re coming up during daylight hours. Of course–they are supreme opportunists. And adapt quite well to whatever situation they find themselves in. It will be hunting season soon. And they will disappear for a few weeks. Like ghosts. And the dogs won’t be so whacko with the barking!

I’m joining the club of coughing, sniffing, wheezing and sneezing. It really must be “what’s goin’ around”. Perhaps we’ve all been infected by a computer virus! I’m so tired. I’d like to sleep without waking up every hour coughing and coughing.

Here’s to feeling better. Sipping hot toddy. Under warm blanket. With fat cat on my feet.

      T,
My Gracie would be right out there with your dogs. She does love to bark. In the summer the neighbor diagonally behind my house yells at her to stop even after a couple of barks. She, of course, thinks they are now having a conversation and barks back. I finally yelled to him to stop yelling then she’d stop barking. He did and she stopped.

I am sorry sorry “it” has found you. Last night I only woke up twice coughing, a marked improvement. I grabbed my inhaler, took a whiff and settled on the pillows. I read a bit then fell back to sleep. It was 11 hours later when I finally woke up, but I agree sleep, if you can get it, is the key.

      Sleep well and get better!!
