Sea Cruise: Frankie Ford

Frankie Ford, a singer whose hit record Sea Cruise brought him international fame when he was 19, died on Monday in Gretna, La., near New Orleans. He was 76.

    I didn’t even know Frankie Ford existed.
    I’ve just listened to a Big Bill Broonzy 1953 broadcast with Studs Terkel. Timeless music and the talk in between is also an interesting document of that time. In case you want to make a musical radio trip into the past too it’s downloadable here:

      I think you’re too young. Heck, I wasn’t even that old when this was a big hit. He isn’t known for much more than these two songs which is probably why you haven’t heard of him.

    This has all the rhythm and movement of the original. I had to move my feet as I listened-didn’t have a choice!
