“Cleanliness is not next to godliness. It isn’t even in the same neighborhood. No one has ever gotten a religious experience out of removing burned-on cheese from the grill of the toaster oven.”
My mother would have called it a deluge. The rain all day yesterday was so heavy it was deafening. The wind came later and then the night got cold. Today is dark, damp and cold. The rain will be back, if not tonight, definitely tomorrow.
When I let Gracie out this morning, I noticed a few yellow leaves on the tree near the driveway. They weren’t there two days ago. I think yesterday’s weather shocked the leaves into changing color. I checked out the rest of the yard and saw more yellow here and there. We now have real fall weather, no more 70’s. It will be in the 50’s the rest of the week.
I keep my outside sandals by the clothes tree in the living room. Around the house I wear flip-flops. Before I go out, I switch from one to the other. Today my feet are cold so I think it’s time to hunt down my slippers and my outside shoes. The sandals will be moved to their winter home, the closet. It’s a sad day.
I have a list of all the chores that need to be done, the ones I’ve ignored for a while. My book got in the way and then I got two new books and started one of them. I have no guilt over being a sloth, but the list seems to get longer and longer so I’m working on crossing off chores one by one. I’ve already cleaned the litter and brought the trash to the car. I have laundry to bring upstairs to put away and I need to change my bed. Once that’s done Gracie and I are going to the dump. I’ll stop to pick up a few groceries on the way home. That will finish my list and I can go back to more days of lolling about reading and eating bon bons, which happen to be on my list.

I ate bonbons yeaterday so that is crossed of my list 🙂
I have had two night with almost no coughing so life feels fine again even if it didn’t go especially well at the annual vehicle inspection. Well, I’ll survive the cost to fix it but it sure isn’t fun.
I still walk barefoot indoors and would just wear slippers outside if it wasn’t for the long wet grass that my lawn now mostly consists of. We’re having a warmer period here again and I do hope it lasts for a long time, I know it at least will stay for the weekend.
Lots of trees here have lost all leafs already but most are still green and some totally yellow, we had a really cold night yesterday so I guess all trees will change now. I don’t like it but can’t stop it so there’s no use in complaining even if I do that anyway 🙂
Have a great day!

Christer,
I had my bonbons this afternoon after my nap. I don’t know which I enjoy more!
I hate paying for car problems. Luckily I have had Toyotas which haven’t need other than maintenance. This car is the first new one I ever bought.
Winter comes in its own time. Some years it is early; other years it comes much later. This has been a spectacular fall so I have no complaints. I’ll save them all for when it snows.
I’m glad you’re finally feeling better.

I actually got stuff done today…I am in the midst of a slow period with work, so today I took the car for an oil change and did a load of laundry.
WHEW…just typing that wore me out…
Pouring on and off today- -and we are not even in the orbit of Hurricane Joaquin yet. Here’s hoping we are both spared!
Sounds to me like will both get an old-fashioned nor’easter…
Waving with one hand and holding an umbrella with the other,

Coleen,
I too got some stuff done. I want balloons and confetti to celebrate.
Of course, it started to rain when I went to the dump. That is just my luck.
It is raining again but not at all as hard it was this afternoon. Gracie didn’t even care about going out; however, she did run in quickly whence was finished.
Yup, more rain expected tomorrow!

Hi Kat,
I think most of my shoes are by the front door. 🙂 I kick them off as soon as I walk inside.
My normal summer shoes are croc sandals. I have 4 pairs; pink, yellow, green and blue. Piki Dog has a habit of taking my crocs, one at a time, and hiding them somewhere. I came home tonight and found 1 green one and 1 blue one together on the end of the couch where Piki sleeps. They were for opposite feet so at least I have a wearable pair. I cannot find the other pair that is just like it except that the colors are on the opposite sides. I can see one pink sandal. The rest are disappeared. Good thing he’s so darn cute.
It actually got almost brightly cloudy up here today. There was spitty rain but only when I went out the door. Right now it is raining steadily but not heavily.
There are turning leaves in my back swamp and the black walnuts have been shedding yellow leaflets and a few walnuts for a couple of weeks now. If it gets windy over the weekend, there will be large amounts of walnuts all over the lawn. I won’t mind if that happens because it means I will only have one or two major walnut chucking sessions to clear them away.
Enjoy the evening.

Hi Caryn,
In the summer I mostly go bare footed around the house. but my feet get cold in winter so I need slippers. I have two great pair, both from LL Bean and both Christmas presents.
I laughed that Piki is a shoe dog. At least he just hides them. My boxer Shauna never touched my shoes but she always chewed my mother’s slippers when we visited her or she visited us. I was forever replacing slippers. Strangely it was always only 1 slipper so I’d buy two pair and always have a replacement. I always hoped she chew opposite feet.
It rained all day and all night yesterday with a couple of short lulls. Gracie is the first dog I’ve had who doesn’t really mind the rain.
Have a great day!
