“House, n. A hollow edifice erected for the habitation of man, rat, mouse, beetle, cockroach, fly, mosquito, flea, bacillus, and microbe.”
Ditto yesterday’s weather as it is still hot and humid today. I put the AC on in my bedroom last night and today I may go full house as I can feel the dampness from the humidity.
My next door neighbor is having a seventh birthday party for her son, and I am going to help. We had planned it together on Monday, and the plan is nearly complete. A bouncy house has been inflated in her backyard. Blue and white balloons are strung along the deck rail. She has sent her husband for cupcakes, helium balloons and trinkets for the kids’ bags, and I have sent over my hot dog machine. I just have to wrap his gift. I hope he doesn’t mind Christmas paper as that’s all I seem to have.
More than not I leave my bed unmade. My mother always made our beds when we were kids. It was like the shoemaker and the elves. I’d leave my unmade bed in the morning and come home to a made bed. It was a miracle! In Ghana my bed got made everyday by Thomas who worked for me. Now I find leaving the bed unmade is healthy. It seems that, “Something as simple as leaving a bed unmade during the day can remove moisture from the sheets and mattress so the mites will dehydrate and eventually die.”I knew there were mites but it still makes me a bit queasy to think the average bed could be home to up to 1.5 million house dust mites. I warn you to stop here if you get a bit wonky when it comes to bugs as the next piece of information is totally disgusting, “The bugs, which are less than a millimetre long, feed on scales of human skin and produce allergens which are easily inhaled during sleep.”That almost sounds like a plot from the B science fiction movies I love. You go to bed healthy and get eaten as you sleep. A clean skeleton is all that’s found in the morning. It seems I now have a good defense for not making my bed. It is for health reasons.

We’ve had a really pleasant day here, mostly sunny even if it for a while didn’t look like we would see the sun more than in glimpses between the clouds. It is fairly warm too andlots of butterflies and dragonflies fill the air. It’ll be much the same tomorrow they say.
I don’t think the boy will even think about the wrapping paper, he’ll only think of what is inside it 🙂
I’m glad those mites are so small, they are anything but pretty 🙂 I wonder how many more species of them we pet owners have in our beds 🙂 I’m glad You gave me a reason to why I don’t make my bed any more 🙂
Have a great day!
Christer.

Christer,
It was pleasant until just about an hour ago when the clouds rolled in. I think the day was a bit humid but the breeze helped if you were in the shade.
I did find birthday paper, and he loved the books I bought. Even the other kids said wow when they saw the fly books.
Yup, you are keeping yourself healthy by not making the bed!
Have a great evening!!

The air changes and I am trying very hard to leave the AC off. It’s hot and humid and has rained and the windows are open. We have been promised cooler air and the windows will be opened
I have been messing with the new mirror less Nikon 1 J5, it follows standard Nikon protocol but contains many features that have developed since I bought a D90.
The basement calls, I am on a huge purging project basically throwing away anything in front of me and waiting to see if anyone will notice that it is gone.

My Dear Hedley,
Gracie was panting so the air got turned on. She has that irregular heart beat so I don’t want her to have a whole lot of street. She runs outside like a crazy dog, but I figure I can help her inside.
I still have my D90 and will for a while. It is a great camera, and I love the pictures. I might get a new lens to satisfy my need for more.
My cellar needs the rental of one of those industrial sized trash bin. I have been saying I’ll clean it but haven’t yet. I’m afraid to face the mess.

My mother was also big on making beds. I agree with you that it’s a waste of time since you’re going to get into it again that night and mess it up. I never made my bed when I was single, but now my spouse either makes it up after I go to work or she guilts me into doing it on the weekends. There are all kinds of critters everywhere and we have adapted to live with each other. Just think about how many varieties of bacteria reside in our digestive system that keep us healthy. I even read an article where scientists are finding a connection between the flora in our guts and our intelligence.
It’s also hot to and humid here today. I took my wife’s car into the car wash yesterday and it rained exactly where she parked this morning. Everywhere else was sunny.

Bob,
We do have so many of our own bugs floating around, but we are a bit too antiseptic with all the shots we take. A new bug comes around and our systems don’t know what to do.
I’m quite happy now that I can leave an unmade bed without having any guilt.
I just turned off the AC as it is much cooler than it was. The whole week is supposed to be in the 70’s. That would be perfect.

Blue and white balloons? I’m glad and honored that you chose the colors of my hometown 🙂
Busy weekend (fri-sun), not much sleep. Busy or not, to make the bed is just a waste of time.

Birgit,
We did hope you’d be honored by the colors we chose.
When I change the bed, I make it and if I have weekend guests. That’s it for a made bed.
