“If you are never alone, you cannot know yourself.”
The days of summer seem to run together. When I wake up, I often forget what day it is. My trick is to remember yesterday then let today slide in its place. Some days are the same, my favorite days, the ones which have no lists. Today is not one of them.
Fern had to go to the vet’s yesterday. She hated the ride and messed the crate going and coming, but when she got to the vet’s, she was calm and investigated everything. She even watched a dog out the window. I took her because she was limping. The vet, Gracie’s vet, said the ligament in the back leg joint is looser than it should be. Surgery would correct that, but she thinks Fern is too old so we are going with pain killers and the hope over time it will mend itself. I help by carrying Fern up and down the stairs.
I don’t spend much time with people any more. I have a play on some Wednesdays and Fridays and movie night on Saturday. That’s it. The rest of the time I’m by myself. I’m just fine with that. I don’t really miss people all that much though I always do enjoy my time with friends. I remember when I first lived alone. I hated it. It was in Ghana. I was homesick and lonely, craving people. I had my students but they didn’t fill the void.
It took a few long months before I was comfortable with myself and could fill and enjoy my time. That was a life lesson for which I am forever thankful. It is not one I ever expected. Peace Corps is so much more than you can imagine.

Gnu,
The link is broken:
404 – Cannot find what you are looking for.

I do hope it will mend itself, cats are usually amazing that way.
We’ve had another wonderful day here and now I have my car back again. I have really enjoyed these forced days off from work 🙂 I don’t mind having to go to the garage as much during the summer as I do in winter but days with nice weather and beinbg at home is never wrong 🙂
I’m very much like You when it comes to people, I don’t mind meeting people or talking to neighbors but I don’t seek other peoples company. I guess I would be a hermit if it wasn’t for my job 🙂
They are showing Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome on tv tonight, is it worth sitting up half the night? I trust Your taste totally since we do like the same movies in all genres 🙂
Have a great day!
Christer.

Christer,
She is lying on one spot, but she did eat when I fed her so she is feeling herself. The vet said the pain killer was strong so she might sleep a lot That sounds like something I’d like.
I like people time but I also like just me time. I sit in my slovenly clothes, loll about and do little except maybe read. I also like looking through cookbooks imagining the meals I’ll make but never ever do.
I didn’t like the series. That it didn’t last long is another indication.
Have a good evening!

Battlestar was rather bad. You knowit will when the hero, no matter what, looks like a mannequin. Even when he was dirty the dirt sort of looked clean 🙂 🙂 The sad thing is that it actuaklly could have been a really good film if they had had good actors instead of concentrating on getting good looking people 🙂

Christer,
Prequels don’t seem to work as well. Look at the Star Trek one. As much os a Trek fan as I am, I just couldn’t get into the series.

You’re right about the prequel of Star Treck, that one was just impossible to like.

Christer,
I was sorry about that as I had high hopes.

I was so happy when I could leave home and finally had a room for myself. Finally privacy. I don’t live alone now but I insisted on a room for myself, sometimes I still need to be alone.
How old is Fern now? I hope the pain killers can help or ease.

Birgit,
I got a room to myself when we moved to the cape, but it served as the guest room sometimes and I was kicked to the couch.
Fern is almost 17, but looks much younger. She seems to tolerate the pain better today as the medicine takes hold as she went upstairs and even jumped on my bed.

The summer days here all seem the same, hot and dry. The triple digit temperatures have temporarily abated but we haven’t had rain for something like 39 days. The rains of April and May ended the drought but the last two months of blue skies as allowed the drought to creep back into North Texas.
I get to enjoy alone time when I travel for business. I’m headed to Phoenix next weekend for a week. I’m amazed at the low prices for hotel rooms there. No one in their right mind wants to visit Arizona in August. I think triple digit temperatures are normal in Phoenix in the summer.

Bob,
We are heading into a warm spell. It will be the high 80’s by Tuesday. The last few days have been just fine-didn’t need the AC except in the bedroom.
Wow, Phoenix in the summertime! Absolutely no one in his or her right mind wants to visit. You are stuck!
