Blondie Chaplin sang it, Van Dyke Parks wrote it, although five were given credit including Brian. “Holland” needed a hit single and this was it.
The original vinyl came with a rather stupid EP Mount Vernon and Fairway. I rather liked Holland certainly better than Carl and the Passions So Tough.
Nice pick Kat, not Mike Love and not really Brian, but really a good song

MDH,
Thank you!
I figured as Brian helped write it, purportedly anyway, that it counted as a birthday tribute. I find it a different sort of BB song and like it very much.

This track also opened the rather good “The Beach Boys in Concert”, a really ok double album that dropped around 1973.
Maybe I should drag out my copy of “Made in California”

MDH,
Hmm, such a compliment, “the rather good.”

I think that live albums are always difficult, especially when they are culled from multiple shows. The Beach Boys in Concert has a good feel of energy and even has Mike’s voice breaking.
I was gardening today with an iPod full of bootlegs and the BB showed up quite often

MDH,
I agree about live albums. Some songs are better live while others…
Hope yours was a good day for gardening-it was perfect here today.
