Tienken Road in Rochester Michigan remains very famous and ties Bob to Joni and all sorts of fun
Seger is, of course, a local favorite and there are many tales of Bob playing high schools, being seen at Pistons games and generally being an all round good guy.
In the very early form of his band they practiced at a farm house on Tienken Road – Get out of Denver baby ? no but maybe get out of Rochester
Meanwhile somewhere on Tienken Road Scott and Mary Mitchell owned a farm house and their son chose to marry his sweetheart on the front lawn with the DSO and stuff. She took the last name of Mitchell, soon dumped Chuck and, according to David Crosby, then worked her way through quite a list of musical beaus – Some regret Coyote ? I don’t know
Tienken is currently under construction, adding roundabouts and widening a two lane road in to four.
When its late at night, and I have my car windows open and I am heading home I am sure that I can hear “The Last time that I saw Richard was in Katmandu”
Great pick today Kat – love it

My Dear Hedley,
Here I am on Cape Cod, the summer home of the Kennedys and the place beloved by Patti Page, and it hasn’t the pedigree or the renown of Tinker Road. You have penned the perfect song title for your route home.
That you love the song makes the day a bit better!

One of my best ever failures was when I saw Dylan at the State back around 2004. He was in a rocking mood and being somewhat of an over planner, I knew exactly the setlist and that he would play one encore.
When he was done with the encore, me and Mrs MDH and our chums boogied to the car and headed north. Quick getaway was in place
However, Dylan decided to come back out and play a raucous version of Seger’s “Get out of Denver”, the place exploded and I later got to hear it on a bootleg. I am still pissed that I missed it
Somewhat to the south of Bob’s ranch on Tienken Road lived one Madonna Louise Ciccone who claims she could hear Bob from her house; she was a cheerleader at Adams High School. In an attempt to sell her shite new album, she appeared on the Howard Stern show and bad mouthed Rochester. Strangely, she failed to mention that she recently sent her daughter to the University of Michigan. Must hate Lourdes I guess.
Your picks have been especially fab over the last couple of weeks, probably something to do with im6

MDH,
I too would have been royally pissed having missed out on that second encore. It is a tough way to learn a lesson. I have one similar story but it was a guy I met in a bar. My friend and I were watching the Celtics. It was in their heyday. it was game 5 in 1976. The game, one of the most amazing I’ve ever seen, went into triple overtime. The guy we met was complaining about the Celts letting Phoenix catch up and how he was so ripped he left. He missed the triple overtime and the Celt’s win.
I never knew Michigan was so rich in talent, either homegrown or immigrated.
I’m glad you have been enjoying my choices!
