Nice to hear this old familiar song again. I haven’t listened to Andersen’s records for quite a while, vinyl-only and along with other A-name artists on the top shelf, too high to reach without a stool. I’m lazy.
I just read that he is still touring and lives in Norway now. Why doesn’t he come over and sing here?

Birgit,
I saw him about 4 years ago here on the cape. He was just as good as he’s always been and played all the songs I remembered. His hair is mostly white but then mine is getting that way as well. It was great to hear him again.

Nice song, thanks! Eric was a “player” in the 60’s folk scene, but always a few notches below Tom Rush, Tom Paxton or even Barry McGuire. The Mitchell Trio (John Denver as lead) does a rousing version of Violets of Dawn. John’s 12-string guitar soars!

Jay,
I don’t think I have a copy of the Chad Mitchell Trio’s version, but I’ll go hunting.
I really like Eric’s voice. You’re right about him being a second tier to the Paxton’s et al, but he does have a lovely voice.
