Such a lovely song and Earl-Jean came first. But of course this Geffen-King song is really only connected to one group. Watch as Peter dodges huge clumps of confetti, and there are some really random dancers who randomly appear and disappear. One gal even adjusts her shoulder strap during the song.
Lovely pop music. Timeless, Perfect. Even Brian Wilson dun it

My Dear Hedley,
No question I also connect this to Herman’s Hermits. I didn’t know for the longest time anyone else sang it.
The dancers gave me a chuckle. Aside from the wardrobe adjustment, they couldn’t even clap together. I think it was that inability which caused their later disappearance.

Never knew there was a version by Brian (with help from Carole King, no less), so thank you for bringing this bit of trivia to my attention. And what a bit of trivia it is. Not very good at all, but I’m glad to now have it in my collection along with so many other mediocre BW recordings.
I was actually first aware of the song via the Earl Jean version, so, to my ears, that remains superior to the one by Peter Noone and boys’.
Now for a delightful little version done by a bunch of British Columbia elementary school students back in 1976. Recordings of their work came to light in 2000 and have since gone on to semi-cult status. They really are worth checking out. This Earl Jean cover isn’t really one of their best, but it fits today’s category:

im6,
This is a delight. They seem to enjoy singing and you can hear it because their voices are filled with such enthusiasm, such life.
