Edna St. Vincent Millay quote

Hi Kat I do not think the scrub (pitch) pines are ugly at all. Their branching is so much more interesting that the other native pines. They also have great wood. I used pitch pine for the framing in my barn. In NH they grow taller and straighter than they do on the cape.

Herb,
I like their ugliness. I have a real tree in my living room, but in my dining room, I have an artificial scrub pine.
They are so spindly that many branches are in the yard at the end of the winter. The wood can’t be burned in the fireplace, only outside, because of the amount of resin.
They don’t have a prettiness when covered with snow.
