Both Sides Now: Joni Mitchell
There are conflicting reports about Joni’s health. Her website says she is alert and talking while Joni’s close friend of 44 years, Leslie Morris, has just filed legal documents to obtain a conservatorship over the legendary singer who is unresponsive. I tend to believe the latter.
This song is from the album Clouds which is my favorite because of the sentiment attached. It was in Africa with me and was played and played over and over.

Joni’s situation is, at best, opaque, and leaves one prone to inappropriate humour.
The last time I saw Richard is my all time favorite song, and Court and Spark remains my favorite album.

My Dear Hedley,
I now the source of some of that inappropriate humor!
Clouds brings back Ghana to me and the evenings spent listening to music from my cassette player. Those albums were a life line, and Joni was always my favorite though Simon & Garfunkel were close behind her.

Clouds is special for me because it was my first Joni album. At first listen I didn’t like it but shortly after I was Joni music addicted.
Waiting for reliable news. It’s crazy, but I don’t feel like listening to her music right now.

Birgit,
I totally understand what you mean. I started playing a song and stopped it as it made me sad to think about Joni and what is happening.

As I’m sure everyone has heard by now, the news also isn’t good today if you’re a Ben E. King fan. Lots and lots of coverage of his career and death and all anyone seems to mention is his iconic recording of “Stand By Me.” But he was a whole lot more.
My favorite music by King was when he was lead singer for The Drifters, a group that, despite being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988, doesn’t get the recognition they deserve. During King’s time with the group, they recorded “Dance With Me,” “There Goes My Baby,” “Save The Last Dance For Me” and this masterpiece:

im6,
I was saddened to read of his passing. As for The Drifters, they were one of my all time favorite groups.
You chose one of the great songs to post.
Thanks for the reminder he was also part of the whole, not just a solo singer.

Im6 and Kat. To make it even more confusing, it would seem that BB King is in awful condition, with accusations of abuse.

MDH,
The whole story of the abuse is sordid. He looks awful, and his caretaker was refusing hospital care.
