Dolly Parton quote
March 26, 2015 at 8:12 pm
My brother worked with one of those old tube jobs up in Duluth when he was in the Airforce. A simple laptop had as much power but the AF kept it ’cause the system was working fine…. there were two air conditioning units the size of a house to keep those tubes cool and Owen always said if the shut down the heat would turn you to carbon before you could get out of the building. When the base shut down the government sold the unit to a scrapper for $1ºº who got about $1,000,000 for all the precious metals and such.

oldfolkie,
I remember the one we had which filled a room. It had to be freezing in there to keep the computer cool. I think my iPad does almost as much as that computer did.
The scrapper was one cagey trader.
