I will wander in to Best Buy tomorrow to pick up Shadows in the Night. The album is the #1 best seller at amazon and has had very positive reviews with only a couple of exceptions (The Times and the NME)
My Sunday mornings are currently shifting between Another Self Portrait and The Basement Tapes – we will see how Shadows fits in.

I ordered it from Amazon today. I listened to two of the songs and decided to take the plunge.
I really like Another Self Portrait.

Full schmaltz and empty music. Applies to all 3 songs of this album that I’ve heard so far. Am I missing any nuances? Am I too young for a Dylan album???

I liked the songs I’ve heard. Maybe you have to be a long time Dylan fan and have the last few albums as perspective.

I listened to this POS (you know what that stands for!) and I’m telling you, the reviewers are playing a sick joke on everyone. There’s not one good track on that entire album. You think the Christmas album was bad? Well make room next to it on your shelf of CDs ’cause this one’s a stinker. Honestly, are those glowing reviews serious? Do those reviewers even have ears? Big stinkin’ heap of garbage. Dylan needs to quit recording before the completely undoes his reputation as one of the premier songwriters/recording artists of the 20th century. This is unforgivable.

I downloaded it yesterday and have not listened to it yet. Had to listen to the new Bettye Lavette first. I am sure I will like at least some of it.

I am disappointed but it is my fault really. I’ve always been a huge Dylan fan but it was not because of his singing voice. Since he is doing covers here, what was I thinking but if there is a new Dylan album, I have to have it.

I think I had different expectations for this given it’s a cover album and that the last few Dylan albums have been less than good. I listened to a few songs and liked them. Dylan is singing and isn’t half bad.
