“In the winter she curls up around a good book and dreams away the cold. “
I rued my yesterday’s decision not to go to the dump because it was cold and there were snow showers. I just stayed home and read and fed Gracie her last can of dog food. That, of course, meant I had no choice but to go out today, a rainy, cold and ugly day.
Going to the dump was a necessity. My trunk was filled with used litter, recycled magazines and newspapers and trash. The cardboard was in the front seat. Not unexpectedly, the dump was pretty much deserted. It could have been the setting for some post apocalyptic movie where most of mankind had been destroyed. Only one other fool was dumping trash. Even the guys who work there had sought shelter and were nowhere to be seen. I got wet and I got cold, and my sweatshirt felt heavy from the rain. When I got back into the car, Gracie, dry and warm, greeted me. I sat for a bit with my fingers in front of the blower. Luckily we had only one more stop: Agway for canned dog food, dog treats and litter. Like the dump, Agway was pretty deserted. It had one other customer besides me.
The older I get the less I abide bad weather. My mother used to keep her house at 70˚ or more during the winter. We all complained and wore t-shirts. Now I understand.
Lots of things drive me crazy, some of them even silly things. On the news, the on-site reporters keep nodding as they listen to questions from the studio. I get the delay, but why do they nod? I want one of them to shake his or her head just for the heck of it. Speaking of the news, what’s with all the repetition? I heard breaking news at the start of the broadcast. It wasn’t. It was the same news and the same videos which had been reported at noon and now again at six. Today I saw the same Patriot’s video I watched on last night’s six and eleven o’clock news.
I’m watching Adam 12. We used to watch it all the time, “One Adam-12, see the man.” It hasn’t aged well.

Another storm has hit us today, it’s calming down some at the moment but will return with great force tomorrow again, how much wind is it out there?? 🙂 It never seems to stop. Next week will be cold though and the winds wilkl finally calm down again.
I´m glad I don’t have to drive to the dump, especially since it is placed so I would have to drive 15 extra miles to get there 🙂 To be honest, I’m not even sure where it is placed 🙂 I only know it is in Falköping somewhere.
So all reporters all over the world do the nod 🙂 I have been wondering about that 🙂 But I have to admit that reporters always starting with Yes when they answer a question no matter what the question was is more annoying 🙂 Why?? Is it a way to show they heard the question??
I think I’ll have an early night today, the weather is annoying me too 🙂
Have a great day!
Christer.

Christer,
We are both in an every day storm. Mine is cold rain, but luckily, it isn’t down to freezing.
My dump is only about 5 or 6 minutes away. It is far cheaper to buy a dump sticker than to pay to have the trash picked up every week.
I figure the studio should ask the first question before they put the camera on the nodding reporter.
I am glad to be home and warm and dry!
Have a great evening!

Hi Kat,
If the interviewer is nodding sagely and you haven’t seen both of the participants together in the same frame, it’s likely that a flunky was reading the questions to the interviewee and the nodding interviewer is just reading a script somewhere else, somewhen else, in order to make it look like a real interview.
The news is really sad nowadays. Most of what I see is old and quite a bit of it is junk I saw on Facebook a few days before.
I was going to go out today but it’s precipitating in one frozen form or another so nope. Not going out in it except to walk the dogs. I need to get more dry dog food but have enough for a couple of days. Tomorrow looks more promising.
Adam 12 would not have aged well.
Enjoy the evening.

Hi Caryn,
It isn’t during an interview. It is the reporter is on site giving the low down on whatever has happened, he is probably listening to the question from the studio through his earpiece, and there is some lag time.
The news is just so repetitive. I watch one usually at 11 which is usually the same thing they aired at 6.
I wish I hadn’t needed to go outside, but at least I got everything done. Tomorrow I have PT at 2, and then I’m going to treat myself to my favorite sandwich.
Adam 12 was bad. The street sets were in every episode.
Stay warm!
