The Christmas Number One was a very big deal and we would run out to buy the 45s of our favored song. The Kinks gave it a run in 1977 but got blown out by Mull of Kintyre.
Maybe they would have had more luck if the lyrics had been different, perhaps….”Father Christmas meets Rudolph, Waterloo Station every Christmas Eve”

My Dear Hedley,
We did the same for the newest Christmas hits. I loved 45’s. You could buy just the song you wanted. A’Soaling was one of those 45’s.
I find that new title quite catchy!

Gnu,
I haven’t heard this song in ages, even years. I love the camel scene and the setting sun.
Good song.

Gnu,
I like some of Jethro Tull and I really do not like others. This one I really like. It is one of my favorites.
