“The rooms were very still while the pages were softly turned and the winter sunshine crept in to touch the bright heads and serious faces with a Christmas greeting.”
You might wonder where I have been all day. It is quite a story. The guys came to put up the lights. First thing was they broke the floodlight by dropping it on the floor in the hall. They couldn’t find the dustpan, but I was assured they had cleaned up the shards without it. I was skeptical for good reason as later I found several pieces, and I also found the dustpan they couldn’t. It was on the stairs, and they went right by it several times. The next problem was an order I had placed on-line with Amazon. I love Amazon and have bought many items from them, and this is the first glitch. Yesterday they verified my order by e-mail. Today I found another e-mail from Macy’s that they had sent my order. I hadn’t ordered from them. They were sending similar items, not quite the same and not the right number and the cost was higher. I called Amazon. They are flummoxed. The man I spoke to for a long time said that order was not given to Macy’s and is coming directly from Amazon. All the information I had given Amazon was there. The guy thought it could be a scam, and I have a virus. The e-mail was not a scam, and I explained about my MAC, but the tech guy just couldn’t figure out why the Macy’s order and wanted me to run a virus scan. I had to download Norton and am running it now, but there won’t be a virus. Amazon is on this as they haven’t ever seen anything like it before. They told me to have my sister, the recipient of the order, refuse the Macy’s order. I had an another problem with a different company but that was far more easily solved. I’m exhausted and I haven’t done a darn thing.
Today is beautifully warm with muted sun. I’ve been on the deck a couple of times just to enjoy the day and will go out again to fill the feeders. Gracie has been outside a good part of the day. She didn’t even take her morning nap.
I am so excited my Christmas lights will be lit tonight. I’ll go outside just to admire the house. Later I’ll bring up the dining room tree, the scraggly scrub pine I always put in the corner and decorate with vintage ornaments. The house will be a multi-day task, a few things at a time. I get excited when this time of year rolls around. Like so much of my family I am a Christmas bug as my mother used to say. We all caught it from her, and we’ll all glad we did.

I know there are a few viruses that hits Mac’s too but they are very rare. On the iother hand, they are becomming rather popular so perhaps they will be a bigger target in the future? Very odd problem though!
I bought a fake christmas tree this morning, two feet high, I wanted the three feet high one but couldn’y find a price tag on any of those trees so the smaller it was. It even came with decorations and a light chain too! The light chain works on batteries though so I need to buy those tomorrow and after that take a photo or two 🙂
I’ve heard that the first thing one gets blind on are the eyes 🙂 I don’t know how many times I’ve looked for something in the entire cottage just to find it on the kitchen sink, I’ve looked at it several times without seeing it 🙂
Have a great day and good luck with that order!
Christer.

Christer,
The Amazon guy was totally taken aback by this problem. He was going to send it upstairs so it could frustrate someone else.
I have a fake tree in the dining room, a small aluminum tree on a table and a live tree in the living room. I love the smell go the pine.
I forget simple words now. I was with my friend the other day and neighbor one of us could come up with the word we wanted. It did show up later from my memory but way too late to use.
Have a great evening!

I remain firmly addicted to Amazon of all sorts and countries, and your combo exploits with Macys seem especially cool. I assume that you have checked your credit card charges to see if the excitement is accelerating. The FedEx guy is going to be exhausted after delivering your multiple order
Meanwhile in Detroit, I am enjoying a healthy battle with the maroons at SiriusXM. It seems that one cannot cancel an account online nor is one able to actually speak to a person even given numerous calls, on hold sessions and call backs from this provider. On the last but one call the individual identified himself as Richard but the background suggested a very far away land.
Ha Ha Ha, my third return call of the day – Now I am being hard sold by someone who’s name I didn’t really understand, that doesn’t get the concept that my lease is up and I don’t need one year, or 6 months or anything else that is on the script of sales.
Right, let me go back and check my Amazon basket, perhaps there will be some price changes or something

My Dear Hedley,
When I checked my credit card, neither charge had yet arrived. The Amazon guy said the charge from Macy’s would disappear once the package was refused. Both orders are going straight to Colorado as the gift is of my sister. I paid for wrapping and a card (for which Macy’s charged a bundle). I try to send gifts directly so I don’t have to pay shipping twice.
I do hate it when you can’t get your point across to those man phones. The first guy at Amazon could barely be heard. His headset was in tough shape. He treated me as if I were stupid, and I let him have it. The second guy made a comment about the head set as he noticed too how bad it was.
I hope this whole mess gets straightened out.

So are you saying that you ordered from Amazon and, for whatever reason, Macy’s was fulfilling that order? I know Amazon handles order for many, many small companies. Didn’t know they did so for Macy’s as well (and I assume Macy’s still has their own web site that fulfills their orders). I hate to be a glass-half-empty sort of person, but I doubt this is the last you’ll hear of this mix-up.
On a brighter note… how could you let December 1 pass without noting the birthday of my very, very, very favorite entertainer? It’s #69 for the ol’ gal. Here’s 30 years of hairstyles and costumes and she never once stopped giving it her all. Happy Birthday, Miss M:

im6,
The thing is Macy’s does not handle any Amazon orders, according to the guy I spoke with at Amazon; my order from Amazon is shipping Wednesday while the Macy’s order has already shipped. The orders is for glasses, and Amazon is shipping exactly what I ordered but Macy’s isn’t. Theirs look entirely different, are more expensive and are more than I ordered.
Yesterday would have been my dad’s 88th birthday. I didn’t even think of Bette who happens to be one of my all time favorites! Thanks for remembering and posting!!!!

Well, so much for my wonder …

This was a laugh out loud comment!

So much fun on cyber Monday. 😦
I doubt you have a Mac virus, but when call center people don’t know what to do they blame it on a virus. 🙂
At least the lights will look good.

Bob,
I don’t have a MAC virus, but I was told to call them back if the other glasses arrived.
The lights look great. I went outside to look at the. Now I need another set or two for the deck rail.
