Gnu,
I’ll have to check what is missing from mine as it is 18+ minutes long.

This was recorded a few years later (referencing Nixon death & Jimmy Carter son Chip)

Thanks, Gnu, as I had thought mine was the whole song.

Gnu,
I forgot how white his hair has gotten.
This was quite interesting as his songs made me think he was still holding on to a bit of the 60’s instead of wanting it to fade away.

Gnu,
The girl did an excellent job of interviewing. I would have loved to have seen his whole family singing together as I have heard his daughter Sarah alone and with her husband.

For our generation it wouldn’t be Thanksgiving without Alice’s Resturant. Happy Turkey Day. Don’t eat too much turkey and fall asleep watching football.

Bob,
I couldn’t agree more about this song. I love to listen to the whole story and the Group W bench. That gives me a chuckle every time.
I thought stuffing meant both me and the bird!

I remember reading this little story in Broadside Magazine before the album came out and falling in love with it. It was about the time I took my pre-induction physical in Chicago and I added a few things when I did the story at a folk festival at UW Whitewater. Later, Arlo’s album was released and I walked about with a bit of a smug look on my face for quite a while.
Here’s a copy of the issue of Broadside that had the story:

Thanks, oldfolkie, for the article link.
I remember when Arlo’s album was released and a shortened version of the song was played. I always thought they did the song wrong by leaving out any part. It all went together so perfectly.
Smug is sometimes good!
