Yikes
I see the name and the poor unfortunate singer carries the same moniker as the vile obese pedophile that represented Rochdale. Cyril Smith was Savile like in his crimes.
I didn’t know the Kingston Trio recorded this. They did a good job with this cover-a bit of eeriness and some edges to their words. They lengthened words for a bit of the ghost about them.

My Dear Hedley,
Yikes is right. I would have unilaterally changed his name if I had known. I looked up the pedophile and was aghast.

The late Caryl P. Weiss performed this often; it was the title song of her +/- 1980 LP. Great version on record; wonderful live.

I haven’t ever heard her version, but I’ll go on the hunt. The only other one I have is Stanley Holloway which was among the first.

Mark,
Because it is so early, I probably missed it. think I was in the 8th grade when I first found folk.
