“If I repent of anything, it is very likely to be my good behavior.”

The sun is back and 70˚ will be here by Tuesday. This is such a weird time of year, one which can’t quite figure out what season it is. Am I still fall or late summer or early winter? My heat went on this morning. It was set for 65˚ so the house must have been quite chilly, slippers and sweatshirt weather. We did go to the dump yesterday in the rain, Gracie and I. There were three cars counting mine. It was a brilliant move on my part. Today will be filled with cars parked hither and yon and people wondering why they didn’t go yesterday in the rain.

I got an e-mail about my 50th high school reunion next year. I was eleven when I graduated. Okay, I’m lying. Anyway, there was a bland questionnaire which even asked about pets. There was a list of deceased classmates, nine of them, but I know it is incomplete as a name I remember is missing. He was struck by lightning. One of the questions was favorite memories. I remembered my English classroom which had two doors, one in the front and one in the back near where I sat. When Mrs. Baker, called Ma Baker by us, was facing the board I used to sneak out the back door. I’d wander a bit or head for the library. When I figured I was gone long enough, I’d sneak back in. Once I wanted my friend to sneak out with me. She was afraid of being caught, but I cajoled and convinced her. I went first then signaled when she should follow. We didn’t get caught. I always wondered how Ma Baker never noticed two empty seats attached to desks with books.

My friend Marie, who has been my friend since I was ten, claims I have always gotten away with everything. She’s right. The key  was to step confidently over the line in plain sight. Sometimes I’d say, “Watch this,” and over the line I’d go. The adult, right there with me, never said a word, never castigated me for line stepping. I think it had to do with me being the least likely to step over the line. I never caused any trouble or sassed anyone, was smart in school and generally did what I was told so whatever I did was never suspect. Even now it drives Maria crazy because she always got caught. I still laugh and make fun of her. That too drives her crazy.

I also received an invitation to my 50th reunion next year. I’m not going because I didn’t ‘t have very many friends in High School and I couldn’t wait to get away from the other classmates who were cliquish and pretentious. My best friend from those days lives in Montana and I lost track of the other friend. Also, I don’t want to travel back to NY.

Today we will get up into the low 80s under clear skies until the next cold front arrives tonight. Then we are expecting some more needed rain and cooler weather for the rest of week.

      Bob,
Mine is right here on the cape, and here and there I have been in contact or seen classmates who live on the Cape. We all seemed to get along well in high school. I went to other reunions and had a great time.

We had rain yesterday so we got a great day today to make up for it.

      Have a wonderful Sunday!

The day started chilly with pouring rain and ended with sunshine and warmth. I’ve had the fire burning in the stove to keep the dampness outside my cottage.

I think we had some kind of reunion last year and as You understand I didn’t go. We had absolutely nothing in common even if we had fun in school. The ones I did hang out with can meet me any day if they so wish.

In elementary school I could have comitted murder and no onw would have suspected me 🙂 We were thrre guys that were good in school and never did anything wrong, so when something happened they kept the entire class in the classroom until the guilty one was found, everyone but us three 🙂 In a way I always got a bit offended since they obviously didn’t think I was able to do anything bad 🙂 🙂 🙂

    Have a great day!
    Christer.

      Christer,
Still nice and sunny. I have to go out on the deck in a bit and empty water from stuff so it can dry enough to be put away for the winter.

I do see classmates around towns many still live here on the Cape. We also connect through Facebook.

I was like you. They never suspected me either. I didn’t do anything bad just silly, fun stuff.

      Enjoy your evening!!

    Hi Kat,
My high school class gave up on formal reunions. Most of us never showed. Nowadays some of them get together every month or so at a local restaurant and chat. That’s about all the participation we can muster.

Stepping confidently over the line is the only way. It’s how I got to pet the adult male tiger at the zoo while dozens of adults stood around me not saying anything as I boldly stuck my arm through the cage.
Like you I learned that if you are usually polite and reasonably well behaved when you do step out of line folks just can’t believe their eyes. So they don’t. 🙂

Yesterday was rainy and cool. Today is sunny and cool. I am still unmotivated though I did manage to throw the laundry down the cellar stairs and walk the dogs.

    Enjoy the day.

      Hi Caryn,
Some classes just don’t get together. We had a 40th and it was great though only a small number showed. It was on a boat out of Hyannis harbor.

That is so true about being polite and well-behaved. No one believes you are out of line even though you are overtly way over the line. I always figure the least likely place is the best place to do something because people won’t believe their eyes.

      I am also unmotivated.

      Have a great evening!

I went to the 5th reunion, schoolmates were married. I went to the 10th reunion, schoolmates were divorced. Last year we’ve had a 30 years reunion. The very same evening Brian Auger & Oblivion Express played in a neighboring town. I went to the concert and I don’t regret it.

“Ma Baker” by Boney M was a popular #1 hit in Europe in the 1970’s. Don’t search, it’s awful disco music.

      Birgit,
I found that song during my hunt, listened a bit and disregarded it.

I missed the 5th because I was in Africa but went to the tenth, the twentieth and the fortieth. I’ll go to this one as well. I’ve usually had a good time.
