it isn’t but I immediately thought Fanny Cradock
October 7, 2014 at 1:38 pm
My Dear Hedley,
I had to look up Fanny Cradock. Several of the images of her had the exactly pose as the lady here. I can see why Fanny came to mind.

“Hello Johnnie” she would say in a deep husky voice and her fourth husband, the monocled Major would appear and be faced with a series of imperious demands, Fanny and Johnnie were parodied constantly
Of course Fanny hadn’t actually got unmarried when she and Johnnie got married in the late 70s but heck that was a technicality and they were together for some 50 years

Here is a very brief clip of Fanny and Johnnie advertising Fairy Soap
October 7, 2014 at 2:23 pm
MDH,
I’m glad to know Fairy soap even works on city dirt!
October 7, 2014 at 2:24 pm
MDH,
I love Johnnie looking right at the camera. That man had really dirty collars.
Wow, 50 years!

minicapt,
I want the bottom ones. They look larger than the top.
October 8, 2014 at 5:50 pm
The holes remain the same size, the rules say so.
Cheers
October 8, 2014 at 5:57 pm
minicapt,
The hole maybe but what about the depth.

Thank you!!!

Morpfy,
What a perfect recipe for the coming colder weather.
I love the herbs. I do admit hating to peel tomatoes even though it really isn’t all that difficult. The feta cheese was a surprise, a wonderful surprise.
Thanks for this. I will definitely give it a try. I’m thinking a wonderfully warm crusty bread would go perfectly.

Gnu,
I can’t even remember the last time I heard this one. Good thing the lyrics are there as I didn’t remember them. This is a fun song to listen to. The photos on the video seemingly have little in common but many are also fun, especially some of the ones of the Beatles.
They look so young!

Gnu,
I remember this one and sang along. It is the perfect 60’s song, and the group’s name is a great one. Good choice!!

Gnu,
This is such a great name for a group, and I will always remember this song.
You have chosen perfect songs today that resonate in my memories.

Gnu,
I was a huge Moody Blues fan back in the day. I can’t remember, though, when I last heard them before this. I don’t think I could have chosen them from a line-up as I have no memory what they looked like, and I also didn’t remember this song.
It is great to find a new Moody song!
October 8, 2014 at 1:02 pm
My very, very, very favorite Moody Blues tune!

Gnu chooses perfect songs!

Gnu,
What an amazing opening to this song, and the video continues to have great shots.
They were good so I wonder why they are seldom played. I list to a 60’s-70’s radio station, and I don’t think they’ve ever played the Moody Blues.
This is one of those videos that would rate a WOW back in the day with the universe ad the stars shots.

Gnu,
I don’t know this song at all. I think I only know Dan Seals because of England Dan and John Ford Coley. I didn’t even know he was the younger brother of the Seals half of Seals and Croft.
It might be because I am not a huge country fan that I haven’t ever heard this. I can’t think of where I would have run across it playing.

Gnu,
This video is so different than the other one-not a horse or prairie in sight. That house is so 50’s and I love the car.
Their older selves were great. Bop had a few different meanings!
I wonder why the hat is necessary even inside.

Gnu,
This is just so majestic. The first few bars are enough to recognize the music.
I saw John Williams a few times when he conducted the Boston Pops, and he always had some of his theme music as part of the selections. His music is so easy to recognize.

Gnu,
I knew I was in for trouble as soon as the words appeared and party was thrown about.
I hated disco and this is a perfect reason why I did. It is bad-sorry but I just couldn’t take it all the way through. It is almost, but not quite, as bad as the Star Wars Christmas album.

Gnu,
Thanks again for being the Wednesday music guy. I always look forward to your choices. They are varied and many bring back great memories.
I know this song, but I have no idea why I do. I even knew the singer: Johnny Paycheck.
Great video to go along with it.

Today seems to *almost* be Psychedelic Wednesday, so I’m offering one of my favorite mind expanding numbers. But this one comes from the Paisley resurgence in the 1980s.
October 8, 2014 at 3:11 pm
im6,
I haven’t ever heard this group before this. If I hadn’t been told the decade, I would never have guesses the 80’s-late 60’s maybe.
October 8, 2014 at 1:10 pm
Okay, one more. This one is for Hedley, the winner of a special edition version of another Deep Purple album. This is the only song I like by them. It’s long, but it’s a doozy!

Oops. Looks like you need to click the “YouTube” in the bottom right corner of the screen.
October 8, 2014 at 2:22 pm
Made in Japan – double disc edition coming my way. Plays at 12/10
Last time I saw Deep Purple I was shocked that they were able to stop a song all around the same time. It was super cool Spinal Tap Stonehenge type stuff….Almost jazz fusion
October 8, 2014 at 3:15 pm
im6,
I did not know this song, but I certainly like it a whole lot. My ignorance is showing again here as I don’t know any songs by Deep Purple. I barely recognize their name.
October 8, 2014 at 3:49 pm
Seriously Kat, not even Smoke on the Water ? 15 million times played just to hear the song. I fondly remember careering Hong Kong in a taxi while our driver enjoyed the extra long live version of Smoke on the Water
October 8, 2014 at 4:00 pm
MDH,
I am so sorry, but it is true. I guess Deep Purple and I never traveled in the same circles.
Nope, this isn’t at all familiar. Thanks for helping my education.
October 8, 2014 at 4:18 pm
Kat, with the arrival of Deep Purple, you are merely a moment away from Zep and Sabbath.
October 8, 2014 at 4:24 pm
MDH,
I wait with bated breath!
October 8, 2014 at 4:34 pm
Here is very young Led Zeppelin at the RAH. They were out of original material and tearing in to the classics for the jumped up youngsters in the audience . There is a full version of the show you can watch on youtube or buy the DVD
One Jimmy Page of Epsom Surrey is mesmerizing in this clip ….ZEP !
October 8, 2014 at 4:39 pm
MDH,
I Have heard some LZ but couldn’t name any.
My education now begins!
