Many Happy Returns of the Day Lennie. 80 up, a new album, the Daily Telegraph saying very nice things about you and you will always be the top guy at KTCC.
I bought the Songs of..at a small store in Ulm and thought it was certain to impress. It didn’t so I went back to Every Picture tells a Story which also failed me, but I understood it better. She didn’t take me down to her place by the river (the Danube) and I didn’t get to spend the night beside her (way too young)
So good luck with China, and the Salvation Army and Rebecca DeMornay and all things Lennie. Happy Birthday Mr. Cohen.

My Dear Hedley,
I just an a TV ad for Lennie’s new album. They played a bit of one song. It did not tempt to buy it.
That first Lennie album was a favorite because he sings all his songs I had to come to know from covers. That is the best he haas ever sounded.
I agree-Happy Birthday, Mr. Cohen!

Lennie has produced 6 million columns of discussion on KTCC? a superstar, bigger even than Mike Love, who is going to be on Stern.

MDH,
Not even a slight exaggeration here! Definitely bigger than Mike Love!

Happy Birthday to Leonard Cohen! Sorry, I forgot to buy 80 candles.
Like every young girl of my age with a guitar I could sing Suzanne by heart. Along with the standard repertoire Blowing in the wind, Streets of London and Lady in Black. Every boy with an electric guitar had to know Smoke on the Water. It’s long ago and now Leonard Cohen is 80. Our local public radio also celebrated Cohen with a retrospective this morning and music later this evening.
Btw, his new album is still available for streaming today:

I have to admit that it’s not too bad for a man who nearly can’t sing anymore.

From Bochum to Boston and Beyond. We salute Lennie.

Birgit, not taking away from Lennie’s birthday but you could sing Ralph McTell ? Very cool
September 21, 2014 at 3:34 pm
Hedley, we didn’t know much about Ralph McTell but Streets of London was one of our common singalongs.

MDH,
Streets of London is a great one to know how to play.

Birgit,
80 candles might be a fire hazard.
Suzanne was and is a favorite of mine. I have never played guitar, but if I did, I’d have learned this one.
I won’t be buying the new album, but I am amazed he is still around and recording.
September 21, 2014 at 6:37 pm
But will you be buying The Basement Tapes ?
September 21, 2014 at 6:41 pm
MDH,
I am buying nothing as I am conserving funds.

For a big plane ride next year ?
Did any Katnicks respond to your offer of a column ?
September 21, 2014 at 7:19 pm
MDH,
Yes, but probably not next summer. I’m hoping for the spring of 2016 as it is expensive. My back won’t take too well the 11+ hour flight in coach so I’m trying to save for first class. Last time I went it was $3500 so that is the base amount.
Nope, not a nibble.
September 21, 2014 at 7:27 pm
Huh, I wonder if I could do something in the style of Lennie
September 21, 2014 at 7:33 pm
MDH,
A song? Are you suggesting a song?
September 21, 2014 at 8:13 pm
Perhaps, something a bit wordy and depressing, shouldn’t be too difficult
September 21, 2014 at 8:34 pm
MDH,
Go for it!
September 21, 2014 at 8:41 pm
Now I have to wind it into Gracie’s love of a run to the dump
September 21, 2014 at 8:45 pm
MDH,
Don’t forget the opened window and a happy dog!
