minicapt,
Barbo’s Furniture was right down from the square and across from the armory where I used to have drill team practice in the winter. Now the building is affiliated with Mass Eye and Ear and the armory is a hardware store.
Barbo’s built a store in Dennisport. Old Mr. Barbo would always say hello to me after he found out I had lived in Stoneham and that he knew my grandfather.

Gnu,
This one brings back so many memories. My classroom was right near two French classes where I swear they sang this song every day. My English classes would groan as soon as the music started.
I went looking and found out this song relegated the Kingsmen and their “Louie Louie” to the number two spot. Who would have guessed?

Gnu,
This is a great song. It is sort of fun. Their name too is wonderful. Sorry they weren’t around for long.

Gnu,
This is a great song. I remember when it was on every radio station. He looks perfect in his tux. I was a bit amazed by the black face until I read a bit. According to The Complete Lyrics of Irving Berlin, this was the first song in film to be sung by an interracial ensemble, and the original version of Berlin’s song included references to the then-popular fad of flashily-dressed but poor black Harlemites parading up and down Lenox Avenue, “Spending ev’ry dime / For a wonderful time”.
Whenever I hear this, I can’t help but think of Young Frankenstein.
This guy reminds me a little of Dr. Frankenfurter in the Rocky Horror show.

Gnu,
You always have a couple of songs I don’t know, and this is one of them. They have quite an interesting name. I, of curse, had to find out more.

Gnu,
I remember this one well. The name of this group is just perfect for this song.

Gnu,
I played this on Coffee once after I complained about the squirrels small enough to steal seed from my squirrel buster bird feeders. That’s when I started calling them the spawns of Satan.

Gnu,
This was a sing-a-long with song. I, of course, remember it well. How can you not like a song with toke in the title?
I saw a video of this from that Lawrence Welk show he mentioned. I’m giving the link:
This is hysterical!
