This song – which was originally used in radio commercials – got so popular that it was recorded and performed by regular musicians, as seen here. Thus the Chiquita brand got a ton of free advertising.
The original commercial was a cartoon in color and it was meant to explain how to treat and eat bananas.
Where did you get the information about it being the reason for immigration? I went all over the net and could not find that information.
The US government policy on Central America kept those countries from developing a free and democratic society so that the people would be kept poor to work for firms like United Fruit. Those policies are responsible for the flood of people coming through Mexico to get to the US.

This was the commercial for bananas from the United Fruit Company. One of the reasons that we still are having refugees coming to the US.
