Johnny Carson quote

Bundesarchiv-photo 1960. I looked it up and, yup, it was taken in the neighboring town. Not my sadistic dentist but similar room and equipment. That’s why the horror looked so familiar.
Each time I was there for a check the old dentist allegedly found a bad spot and drilled and drilled until half of the tooth was gone. Without medication or interruption of course. He ruined a lot of teeth in the suburb I grew up until finally an other dentist started a second office.

Birgit,
I could barely make out the words below the picture: far too small for my eyes. I think that room was a bit more modern than the dentist my dad dragged me to. He too didn’t use anything for numbing. I’ll never forget the dread when I found out I had an appointment.
My father only took me there because the guy was cheap. That was probably because he had little overhead: everything was old and he didn’t have to buy novocaine.

My dentist, on the other hand, uses lots of clove oil before he rams home the novo-needle.
And he doesn’t get upset if I comment on no teeth lost since his last repair job.
Cheers

minicapt,
My dentist also uses something to numb the gum before the needle. It is just the length of the needle seems drastic.
