And Eric was gone, beset by the demons of addiction and then the bridges and viaducts were ablaze with “Clapton is God” . Graffiti before anyone had even heard of Banksy. His friends got him to the Finsbury Park Rainbow and the vinyl opened with a blistering version of Badge.
I didn’t see Eric until 76 at the Crystal Palace Garden Party which had one of the crappiest line ups known to man. Eric only played for just over an hour. He never played “Layla” but he played “Layla”, I have no idea how I got to Crystal Palace or who I went with. Guess it was one of those evenings.
I have seen Eric a bunch of times, I buy the product over and over in various formats even though I know that I have most of the material. I like Clapton.

My Dear Hedley,
For once I actually understand what you are talking about here. Usually I have to go hunting to clear up the references.
I laughed at your, “I have no idea how I got to Crystal Palace or who I went with. Guess it was one of those evenings.” I had a few of those in college-I think I did anyway!

Kat, I can narrow it down to my 1961 Triumph Herald or public transport. My little old car took me everywhere. I do remember the event being deadly dull but that is about it. I was working as a clerk at the Bank of England at the time so it was probably one of my coworkers who was my unfortunate companion.
