“The taste of moon’s song.”
The wind is whipping not only the top-most branches of the pine trees but also their thin tree trunks which sway back and forth and creak when they move. The sun was here earlier but has since disappeared. When I went to get the papers, I was surprised at how warm it is. The day will be a delight if the sun decides to stay around a while.
I’m in a funk. Nothing much is happening. I have to fill the bird feeders and renew my license, and I might just get to that laundry for want of something to do. I can’t believe how bored I am today, an unusual feeling for me. Maybe I’ll oil the old desk and the butcher block. I am really desperate for something demanding applause, balloons and noise makers.
You didn’t know it, but there was a huge pause between paragraphs. My friend picked me up, and I just got back from getting my driver’s license renewed. The picture could be worse but not much worse. The sun has since returned and looks as if it’s here to stay. The wind, however, is still terrific.
Tonight or rather early tomorrow there will be a total lunar eclipse. It is the first in a tetrad, four total lunar eclipses occurring in the next year and a half. The moon in total eclipse is called a blood-red moon because that’s the color it will look when it passes through the light from sunsets and sunrises glinting off the surface of the Earth. The eclipse will start around two which means I’m taking a nap today so I can see it. I’m hoping for clear skies.
I did some reading and found conspiracy theorists pages. One page suggested a link between the tetrad and a biblical prophecy of the apocalypse, “The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of the Lord come.” NASA, however, has assured us that tetrads are fairly common.
My favorite conspiracy page mentioned that the last blood moon occurred in 2004 on the night the Red Sox won the World Series. Given how badly their season has started, perhaps the new blood moon is just what they need to spark up those bats.

We cruised in from the land of the mouse to discover that a gigantic hail storm had destroyed everything except our neighborhood. This morning Maggie and I ventured outside at 5.00 am in 70F weather which was accompanied by high winds – very entertaining for a terrier.
And the temperatures drop…shooting down this afternoon to a thoroughly unpleasant 20 overnight and the promise of snow tomorrow. This is it – the chance for the last 1.9″ so that we can go Gold and beat out those buggers from 1880 and their suspect measurement procedures.
I am somewhat biblical as some of my chums get ready to daub lambs blood over their door to avoid the Angel of Death (usually announced by endless playing of a Lennie Album) and we get ready for Holy Week.

My Dear Hedley,
My sister got ten inches of snow yesterday. She’s in Colorado so you might be getting the same front. I know we’re expecting cold weather later in the week. I wish you luck on that record.
How lucky it was the hail missed your neighborhood.
I can see Maggie wanting to chase anything moving in the wind.
You had to throw in Lennie!!
I hope the Prince had the best time in the land of the mouse!!

The Prince had a wonderful time and chose the Animal Kingdom as his favorite experience. He was selected to be The Beast when he met Belle and then ended up dancing with her – As a result he got a lot of potty mouth – When we went to meet Mickey he told us quite clearly that we were not to embarrass him, and pointed at each member of his family.

MDH,
This made me laugh when I read the Prince pointed at each of you in warning.
The poor guy having to deal with his family after his dance with Beauty.

I thought the lunar eclipse was yesterday 🙂 We won’t see it anyway because the moon is just above the horizon here when it happens and will most likely disappear before it’s full.
I love those conspiracy pages 🙂 It’s amazing what they come up with some times 🙂 The best year for those conspiracys nutters has passed (2012) so they just grab what they can and come up with something doomes day like 🙂
Sunny all day here and it will continue like that they say. Well the predictions towards easter changes every hour now. At first we were supposed to have summer temperatures and sunny weather, now those temperatures have moved till after easter and we might get rain inbstead. But there’s plenty of time to mess up those predictions even more 🙂
Have a great day!
Christer.

Christer,
The sky has become quite cloudy so it looks like I won’t be seeing it either.
Yup, we survived 2012 despite rumors to the contrary. We haven’t had an Armageddon yet.
When the sun disappeared, it got cloudy and chilly. I know it is supposed to be getting colder during the week. I hope Easter is a nice day.
Have a great evening!

Hi Kat,
I sympathize with your mood of the day. My funk is due to back pain that is limiting my mobility and frustrating me greatly.
I was feeling pretty good this morning so I took a stroll around the outside of my house and got some lovely pictures of the flowers that are blooming in the lawn. There is one daffodil in bud. It might survive the bunnies.
Anyway, the stroll was a bad idea. It probably didn’t help that I took the dog for a walk up the road yesterday, either. Rocky seems to know I’m not up to par and has been content to sleep on the couch with me. He’s not asking for walks or for me to kick Kevin the Kevlar Dragon around the house for him to chase. I felt sad for him and figured I could do one football field length walk. Apparently not.
Conspiracy pages sometimes make me laugh but mostly they make me rail against The Stupid. I have to limit my intake.
I’m hoping for clear skies, too. I have napped. The camera is already set up, just in case. It’s not looking good but who knows?
Enjoy the evening and, I hope, The Blood Moon: Part I. 🙂

Hi Caryn,
Sadly it is totally cloudy right now. I so wanted to see that eclipse and also napped. I guess I’ll have to hope to see the next one.
I’m sorry about your back. I know exactly how awful back pain can be and how much it ruins the day. Sometimes I can’t bring my clean laundry upstairs (I did wash today-load 2 is in the dryer) without awful pain.
Gracie played with her friend Cody today so she’s snoring on the couch.
When I moan and groan, she gives me the most sympathetic look so I do believe Rocky gets it.
I hope your back gets better!!

So every day the Sun Rises on zero and Sets on one hundred eighty our faces edge ever towards two hundred seventy degrees.

Beto,
I think only now does it rise on 0˚, in springtime.

GOOD LORD! THE TOMATOES!

Beto,
Love the horror and the caps!

I watched the eclipse from 3:45 am till about 4:30. It was nice but nothing I haven\t seen before.. I took some pictures but I don’t think they turned out very well.
April 15, 2014 at 10:11 am
Cuidado,
I also watched but didn’t see the blood moon which was what I was hoping.
April 15, 2014 at 1:32 pm
The blood is bloodshot in your eyes this morning. I think that’s what Blood Moon means.
April 15, 2014 at 1:37 pm
Beto,
I was smart enough to go to bed, set my alarm, watch the eclipse then go back to bed.
