One of my favorite tunes with a Bossa Nova beat. Also made famous by Tony Bennett.

Bob,
I am such an Astrid Gilberto fan, and I love this song. I haven’t heard Tony’s version, but I do remember Frank Sinatra’s.

Fly Me to the Moon 🙂
Do you remember I wrote that we won the national Barbershop chorus competition in March? We sang Fly Me to the Moon and I Got Rhythm and now our video is online:

No lunar eclipse for us. Wrong continent. I’m jealous.

Birgit,
It looks like we won’t be seeing the eclipse either. The sky has clouded over.
Great concert. I like that every member seems to be enthusiastic about singing. It comes across as something almost joyful.

Well done. The Gershwin is super.

Thanks, Beto. David Wright wrote the Gershin arrangement, he is a genius.

What fun, Birgit! Too bad there was such a lack of enthusiasm from the chorus :-). Plus you topped it off with a Busby Berkeley finish!
Here’s one of my favorite versions of FMTTM by a contemporary artist, Jason Mraz. I’m a sucker for the ukulele!

Thanks, im6. I had to look up Busby Berkeley. Yup, the comparison is obvious 😉
If you haven’t seen the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain live, you should if possible. Their concert was great and very entertaining.

Have only seen their videos, Birgit. Unfortunately, I’m not well traveled like so many Coffee Cats and have never been to Europe. I’m not gonna hold my breath for the Ukulele Orch. of G.B. to show up in Texas any time soon either 😉 Here’s a short clip of Mr. Berkeley’s magic: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iM_Xjw4m0ro

im6, mass synchronized swimming without water 🙂
Isn’t it sleep time in Texas right now?

Many of my “Mix” tapes include Astrud Gilberto along with Beethoven and AC/DC. But none of that Eugene Ormandy Philadelphia Beethoven junk. Georg Solti and Chicago. Only orchestra in the world with the horn section that can pull off a Ludwig Van Beethoven Symphony.

Beto,
That is an amazing mix of styles and musical genres. I like your taste.
I have not heard any of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra’s music. As I am a brass fan, I guess I’ll have to find some.
