I have no idea. One of my grandmothers always looked depressed, and the other had no expression. Weird!

The really funny part is that they would stand or sit perfectly still if you took movies or video. Stiff like plants with that same expression.

Some cultures think you’re taking their soul when you snap a picture. Perhaps that’s why.

Shutter speeds were very slow and the subjects had to sit very still or they would be blurred.
