Heard on the radio on the way to the 7th-day Adventist grocery. Not played very often – a good chorus sing-along after drinking a bunch of bier.
Many SDAs are vegetarian and thier grocery has good produce & variety. Are teetotalers as well. Been to a SDA service and a wedding – pretty much a standard protestant service & hymnal. Sabbath practiced on Saturday and they tone down observation of Christmas & Easter.

Spaceman,
When I was young, there was a 7th-day Adventist bakery uptown. They made the best bread, and you could smell it all over the square.
My aunt married a 7th-day Adventist for her second marriage. Her kids were shell-shocked with no Christmas and no birthday celebrations. I thought it a bit cruel to take it away from them as they had celebrated all their lives. For the first few years my parents had them over for Christmas.
I forgot who turned me on to David Allen Coe, but I liked the song I heard. This one is new to me, but before the end of the song, I sang along with the chorus too without the beer!

How can you write a better lyric, “And I never minded standing in the rain?”

Spaceman,
That line is filled with imagery and can be metaphoric in so many different ways (the English teacher in me).

Well I am quite surprised you know DAC; he’s about as hard a country as you can get.
March 21, 2014 at 5:14 pm
Spaceman,
I’ve posted him twice on Coffee though I don’t think the songs were hard-core country:
Hello in There and Family Reunion
