I’m liking this a lot!

Very, very Police-ish. Which came first?
February 21, 2014 at 5:16 pm
im6,
Okay, I don’t get this question.
February 21, 2014 at 5:19 pm
Kat… The music reminds me of that of The Police (Sting, Andy Summers, Steward Copeland). But I’m not sure which group predates the other.

Im6…drift through the catalog …stupid sting sang songs about messages and bottles, the Jam were worried about a town called Malice.

Thanks!

Im6 …ever seen Sting ? Saw the Police in 1980 when they were the Police and I saw them on their 401k tour with Elvis and I was down the front? Sting was a real drag and had no Interaction with the rest. After 80 minutes they were in to the encore
I have the Police catalog although I don’t play it much. I have a bunch of solo Sting which I don’t play at all
You seem a bit jumpy. Who cares if I like a band or not, it isn’t relevant.

You ventured in to a very interesting area. The Jam were a 3 piece outfit led by Weller and initially were very much in the Mod image of a 1960s Who. However, Paul Weller is extraordinarily talented and produced wonderful albums, All Mod Cons, Sound Effects, Setting Sons, to name but three, before embarking on a solo career
Something as special as Tales, was a b side on Absolute Beginners
You certainly wont like everything but their catalog is well worth a flirtation. Their social commentary was very strong – listen to Eton Rifles or Down in the Tube Station at MIdnight

My Dear Hedley,
I did some reading already and went and downloaded Down in the Tube Station at Midnight which I first heard on youtube. I’ll do a listen to more as well. I’m intrigued.

After the Jam, Weller became The Style Council, and he decided to Shout to the Top

MDH,
His musical family tree has many branches. I like this one too! I love the music which opens tho song.

Kat, as I said, when you posted Paul Weller, you really did open a box of delights. You might even want to sample Cafe Bleu. Paul, Bruce and Rick were The Jam and were there as part of the New Wave.

MDH,
I never do know what’s behind some musical doors. Good thing you’re around to help!
