Give Me Strength, is sitting on my desk, 6 discs from Clapton’s recordings form 74-75 and it includes his version of Knocking on Heavens Door.

Bob’s version is, of course, definitive although almost everybody has covered it. The lyrics and surprisingly sparse and the song is dominated by the repetitive soulful chorus.

We get it, it’s brilliant, I hope it’s a while before I am.

    ..waiting Kat……

  2. Kat,
KOHD is so evocative of a certain time and place for me. Love it! Thanks again.

    Hedley,
Your music room must be a sight to behold!

Kat, John Henry is at Anfield, he has no idea they are down 2-0 after 30 minutes…I could lip read and he was saying something about a Big Poppy

      MDH,
I think he is saying what Big Poppy said which didn’t get bleeped until it was replayed later.

  4. Sorry Kat, I just realized that my box account was turned ‘off.’

  5. Hedley,
You weren’t able to get onto the blog itself or you just couldn’t comment? Kat’s kindly added the link to her blogroll and it will take you directly there. Hope you can drop in now. Let me know if there’s still a problem.

  6. Kat,
Glad I realized. It will be a weekend thing.

A dissenting opinion… This is one of the songs I like least by Mr. Zimmerman. Can’t explain why other than I just don’t like it. Fortunately, he’s made up for it by doing more than a few I do like.

If Bob’s voice was always this smooth – I’d likely enjoy his singing much more. I’ve always respected his *songs* – I just do not always enjoy hearing him singing them.

      Scott,
I think all his earlier albums has this same smooth voice. It was far later when his voice changed and became difficult to listen to.
