I’ve Got My Love to Keep Me Warm

This singer I’m not identifying. I figure she’s easy to guess. One of her songs was taken down on my old Coffee, the one erased from the world. I’m taking no chances here.

    Easy to guess and much appreciated. In my opinion the best singer ever, but I needed some time to realize. It may be a matter of age to hear and admire the soul and expression in her voice. When I was young the incredible vocal technique of other comparable singers was more impressive. Sorry, E***, but you are still No.2 in my personal ranking 😉

      She is one of my all time favorites from way, way back when I was in high school. That’s when I happened on this one and Ella. They both led me to appreciate amazing music.

        I think it was Ella first because my mother would play Ella records on the hifi. I was introduced to so many singers that way. My mother probably knew little of this singer. I found her on my own, and I have no idea how.

    Ella’s voice is always on key and her words enunciated clearly making her recordings easy on the ear. In addition, her arrangements are well done and it is apparent singing is a joy to her. Her duets with Louie bring out the best in both of them. The other singer tells her life’s story thru her songs. While I enjoy hearing her as well, I quite often become somewhat melancholy listening to her.

      You are so right about her and Louis. Their songs together are a gift to us.

      I understand about the melancholy in some of her songs, but I think in others there is joy in her voice as if singing is glorifying in some way.
