Oh man, I hauled across 94, and walked in to find The Magnetic Fields and something festive from Realism.
I love this band, I gossiped with Claudia when they were coming to Pontiac, spent a little time with John and Sam after a show in Columbus. Claudia owes me a live version of The Death of Ferdinand DeSaussure, which she said she would play onetime in a piano bar.
And Mr Merritt is a genius. If you have never heard it, settle down and listen to 69 Lovesongs.
You rule Kat, well perhaps not exactly rule but certainly lead from the front especially today.
My Dear Hedley,
I love surprising you with a song, especially one from a band you love. I only have a couple of songs from Realism and now you tempt me with the rest! Get behind me Satan!!
I love Christmas concerts. We also see a play every year then go to dinner. It is a tradition started many years ago when my mother was still with us. One year we went to see Death of a Salesman with Brian Denahey. We joked about how festive the play was just before Christmas. My favorite was the floor table at the Pops concert when we had champagne and hors d’oeuvres.
We have an excellent version of “A Christmas Carol” each year at Meadowbrook theatre on the campus of Oakland University. When we go, it’s the whole family which is lovely.
The Prince will be part of the second grade chorus. “Could you hear me”? he asked last year.
One of my sister’s Christmas presents is my taking her to our local playhouse then out to dinner (my mother gave my sister and me that present, and I continue it for my sister). The playhouse is in the square and was the movie theater I went to every Saturday when I was a kid. It was bought, restored and refurbished. I have seen A Christmas Carol there and so many other plays. This year It’s a Wonderful Life is the play then we have a wonderful dinner.

Already marked on my calendar!

Bigger even than that restaurant song on Thanksgiving.
Our journey of Advent begins tomorrow and on the third Sunday, Maddy’s beautiful voice brings the evocative song from the 16th century.
Now, time to get the Christmas tree out of the basement

MDH,
I would have to agree with you. I love Christmas and Gaudete Sunday is so close to the big day the song becomes even more special.
The lights outside look great!

After Maddy Prior we will go to St Lawrence to hear The Prince’s Christmas concert. Such a special time

That is a great story about The Prince.
