The hidden track on Daisies, this is the song that started the whole thing for me.
I was watching a football (my type) week in review show on Fox Soccer and here was this song announcing “god damn right it’s a beautiful day”… I emailed them pleading for identification and was told it was Mark Everett and the eels. That was 2000 and a few years have gone. I loved the album I even tried to get my Mum to listen to “it’s a m**********r”. She did but the lyrics were too difficult. She passed away, I played electro shock blues.
The eels will never be famous. Mark Everett will never be a big star, but his music is stunning and I remain on the road, which right now is the double live album being offered on their website.
U2 stole this song, nothing was said.
Thank you for the selection Kat.

My Dear Hedley,
I love this song and can understand why this was the song which started it for you.
I was late to the Eels party but I celebrate with horns and hats and confetti. You were the one who started it for me.
I pandered today!

Saw it and knew that a pandering had taken place and I feel no guilt π

MDH,
Guilt? You feel guilt?

Only when I am “going over to Susan’s house”

MDH,
At least something brings on guilt.

Yes, this is a great song (as are many — most — by Eels). I became aware of Mr. Everett in 1992 with the release of his first solo album, “A Man Called E,” where he was billed as simply “E.” As good as much of his later music may be, I’m not sure he ever improved on that album.

im6,
Love this song. Within two notes, My feet started to tap out the beat. Now I’m going to go hunting later to see if I can find this album on a blog. If not, e-music will get a visit.

This post prompted me to use Eels as the soundtrack for my daily walk…. cover versions of other artists’ songs. While enjoyable, I must report Eels aren’t the best to walk to. Fountains of Wayne proved to be much more conducive to my gait.

im6,
I figure you’d have to go through Eels music really well to pick and chose the right tempo.
I would need something like a slow, slow waltz.

Im6, could I suggest souljacker and Saturday morning might pick up your cadence ?
