Thanks, Spaceman. It’s downloading now. I would never turn down balm for the soul!

I really like the Phipps Family; the simplicity of their songs is soothing. And a lot closer than Gilead.
Been reading some of the works of John Owen; maybe the best known of Puritan theologists. Found it interesting that he was instrumental in arranging for John Bunyan’s “The Pilgrim’s Progress” to be published, which is a fascinating book unto itself.

Spaceman,
They remind me of the Carter Family’s early songs-music stripped bare except for a guitar and their voices. I like them.
In college I read Pilgrim’s Progress, probably wouldn’t have ready it otherwise. I don’t know John Owen but will do a bit of hunting.

Oh yes, quite similar. These must mostly be their own songs, the only one I recognize is “On a Hill Lone and Gray”. You might like the ChuckWagon Gang, which is shape note style, but more vocal than Phipp’s. .

Thanks, Spaceman. I love getting suggestions of new music for me to hear, music I might not otherwise find.
