The sun has disappeared. I know it was here earlier, but when I wasn’t looking, it went elsewhere. The weather does say chance of rain, but I don’t feel it in the air. The day is warm but not hot. A healthy breeze is keeping the heat at bay.
One of the spawns of Satan has met its demise. My neighbor saw it as he was walking by with his kids. The spawn is lying in the rough area between my house and my neighbor’s. I guess I’ll have to get my shovel and bury it. I checked, and it is a grey squirrel gone to its maker.
When I was a little kid, we found dead animals like squirrels somehow fascinating. The whole group of us would check out the recently departed. We used to wonder and debate how or why the creature died. Sometimes we’d think to bury it but most times we’d just leave it there. Kids always find oddities and gross stuff most interesting.
Today I have no plans. I showered so the cleanliness next to Godliness if out-of-the-way. I need to make my bed, and that’s about it for the day. Usually when I go upstairs, one or both of the cats are sleeping on the bed so I choose not to disturb them, and the bed remains unmade, as if I need an excuse.
My front fence is ablaze with flowers. The autumn clematis is blooming and covers one whole part of the fence. There were so many bees around it this morning. All of them happy, I’m sure, to have flowers. One tall sort of neat looking plant near the front of the house has buds and will bloom in a couple of days. I don’t know what the flower is. I’ll take a picture so someone can help me out with its name. The buds look white so for now it is the white flower. I need to buy some mums. I have one on the steps, but I’d like a few more for the garden which only has black-eyed Susans left. I’m sorry the season of flowers is coming to an end. I loved looking at my front garden each morning when I went to get the papers.
Football begins today. The Pats are playing the Bills. Can fall and winter be far behind?

Foggy in the morning, later sunny and warm and now in the evening cloudy and warm. It has been a very nice day but now it’s so dry that most plants look more or less dead 🙂 The perennial sunflowers still look good though and surprisingly many bumblebee are still around, they have normally died by now. Soon the autumn asters will open up unless they dry to death first.
I rarely saw any dead animals when I grew up, roadkills but rarely anything else. I guess all cats ate dead rats of which we must have had plenty back then.

The sun came back, but it is late in the day so it is getting chilly. I just shut the windows down here. Upstairs is warmer.
I used to see road kill but haven’t in a long while. This is the first dead animals I’ve seen in a while. I know a coyote didn’t get it, but I don’t know why it died.

The sun is up here now. It was out and then it disappeared and now it’s back. It’s warm and breezy.
My cousin and I went through a phase of burying all the dead animals we found. Mostly it was flattened frogs and sometimes a flattened snake. We stopped doing burying them after a long discussion about whether or not to bury a dead ant.
I don’t see flattened frogs or snakes anymore. That’s worrisome as it probably indicates that there aren’t any in the area.
Come to think of it I haven’t seen many flattened spawns this year either. They are thin on the ground here this summer. I suspect the coyotes have been doing rather well.
My errands got done yesterday so today is Do Nothing Sunday. I may fall into that book again. At the moment I am still figuring out my new Mac. It’s different.
I uploaded some photos from my camera. There was a horrible moment when I thought it was going to upload every photo in the camera instead of the ones I chose. It didn’t but it sure looked suspicious.

The sun disappeared for most of the afternoon but showed up a little while ago, too late though. It is getting chilly.
I know a coyote didn’t get this one so I have no idea cause of death. It is just one less spawn, and the first dead one I’ve seen that wasn’t hit by a car. It is now buried.
I had nothing to do today either. I watched the Sox lose an exciting game and the Pats win a close one. I was going back and forth then I napped.
The Mac is different than a regular laptop. It took me a while to learn it all.

I’ve had a Macbook for 5 years. This is even different from that! But once I told myself it’s just like a tablet except you don’t swipe and tap on the screen, it got better. Now I just have to get used to the way things are displayed.

When I was a kid I was fascinated by dead birds which we usually found on the school playground during recess. By the time we came upon them the bugs and worms were already having their lunch.
Football games have been going on here in Texas for a couple of weeks. High School and College games are mandatory events in cities and towns across the state. When I was a kid living in Dallas in the 1950s I could never understand why the World Series didn’t have the same appeal as the annual Texas OU football classic which is also known as the red river shootout. It’s played annually in Dallas which is approximately half way between Austin Texas and Norman Oklahoma. The game is preceded by lavish parties, crazy street revelry and lots of arrests in Downtown for drunk and disorderly conduct. How could the World Series compete when we didn’t have a major league baseball or football team? Tonight the big game on TV is the home opener at Cowboy Stadium, Jerry Jones’s billion dollar football palace, between the Giants and the Cowboys. A prime time extravaganza which might even turn into a good football game.
Because the NFL is having the big televised opener this weekend the weather is cooperating with a high temperature of only 96 degrees today. I am sure the retractable dome will be closed tonight. Somehow indoor football is not the same thing as attending a sub zero temperature game, during a snow storm, in Soldier’s Field in December with a strong wind whipping off of Lake Michigan. That’s how real football is played and watched.

Kids are like that with dead animals. I remember we were though we usually saw roadkill rather than any other animals.
High school started Friday night on the Cape but college has been going a couple of weeks here too. Football games have tailgaters and going to the game is a big party. Baseball doesn’t have that party atmosphere here as there isn’t a parking lot for tailgating. I know people who have elaborate tailgating materials including three quarter tents and huge barbecues. They pride themselves on their food.
I love games in the snow and rainy games on real grass. The snow game the Patriots had was amazing. Every time they scored people threw snow into the air, and it looked a but like white fireworks were going off in the stands. They had cleared off the bleachers but most people stood because of the cold seats.

I realize that Fenway Park doesn’t have parking lots, but here at the Ballpark in Arlington people tailgate before baseball games. If you drive to Fenway where do you park?
I can’t wait for the Super Bowl this in February which will be played in Giant’s Stadium in New Jersey. I am hoping for a blizzard since it is an open air stadium. What genius decided to schedule the Super Bowl in New Jersey in February? Oh, I forgot all the important people will be snug and warm in sky boxes 🙂
The real fans will have to suffer in the cold in their $1,000 seats 500 rows above the end zones.

For day games, I park in Braintree, a city south of Boston, then I take the T, trains, into Fenway. For night games I take out a mortgage and park near the park. The cost is exorbitant.
I too was amazed they chose New Jersey in the winter. Snow would make that a long, long day. I love sitting home warm and cozy.

So there are parking lots around Fenway? When I was there in 1993 I was too interested in the place itself and didn’t pay any attention to the sourouning area. I do remember Kenmore Square where we waited for our ride to pick us up and take us to Logan airport.

There are lots and there are gas stations which turn themselves into lots to make big money. The lot I use is about two blocks from Fenway. It is massively expensive. Ken more Square is where the T station is.

Baseball players are smarter because they don’t have all those head injuries. I’ve been sick with something the past few days so I’m resting in bed.

I think the quote was meant to be facetious though your are right about head injuries. Maybe they are also smarter because they chose baseball.
