A terrific pick Kat from the somewhat neglected Bouncing off the Satellites. It was during the recording of Bouncing that the band lost Ricky Wilson

I had muddled my way up to Mosport Canada in 1980 for the Heatwave concert which featured The Pretenders, which Chrissie flashing a steel faced guitar, a totally revamped Talking Heads, Elvis Costello and The B52s

Fred came out with a walkie talkie that he used for the opening notes of Planet Claire and all heck broke lose, and I was in love.

Mrs MDH and I saw them at the Grand Circus Theatre in Detroit and the balcony was moving so much we decided to leave for safety. the Grand Circus never hosted another live show.

Rock Lobster to you and your KTCC coven. Fabulous pick from a wonderful band from Athens GA

      My Dear Hedley,
I am glad you like this pick. It is always a pleasure for me to post one of your favorites. My KTCC family ought to have a favorite very now and then. It is the least I can do for you all hanging around for so long!

You have seen so many concerts I am always extremely jealous!

I’ve said many times that the best background music for cleaning house is the “Cosmic Thing” album. Alas, it doesn’t get played enough by me!

Never wanted to see The B-52s live. Oh, maybe I’d like to see them live, but not sure about hearing them live. I suspect a lot of flaws are covered up in the studio. But I do like them. On second thought, I don’t know if I’d even want to SEE them perform live today. Once you’ve seen old people acting like they’re still in their 20s, you can’t unsee it. Not pretty.

      im6,
I’m laughing here at your last two sentences. It sure isn’t pretty and the sound is often offensive having no semblance to the originals. I expect that soon enough the Stones will be using Hover-around chairs. They could have some fun with those.

grace slick had some interesting comments on ‘old people ‘ on the
rock and roll stage…I wasn’t sure if I agreed with her at the time..but the more pbs’ music of your lives beg programs’ I think I might agree
saw the b 52’s a couple of time…it was great fun.

How right you are, Greg. Those PBS shows really make me feel conflicted. On the one hand, it’s nice to see the audience enjoy themselves so much. On the other hand, it’s painful to see the audience enjoy themselves so much! Or maybe embarrassing is a better word. You’d think, however, that after all those years they’d have learned how to clap along with the beat, but apparently not. I guess it’s true that some people really DON’T have any rhythm!

      greg,
I have watched some of those PBS’ programs and, like im6, I am conflicted. I look at the audience and think how old they are. On reflection, I figure they and I are about the same age. I just think I’m cooler!

Im6, in the day, they were sensational, many years have passed and Ricky is gone . Head back to the original album, wild planet, party mix and Mesopotamia ……

You can do your housework while you are living in your own Private Idaho.

Such a funny song; I’m not very familiar with the B-52’s very much. I guess when I do housework ( ick ) I’ll do it this way.

Back in 1982, we were on exercise and had a B-52 drop by for a visit and a fly-past.

    Cheers
