From Aerial Pandemonium Ballet, Harry had revisited some of his early work and rerecorded it rather than do a greatest hits album and it was released right in front of his best known work Nilsson Schmilsson.
I bought the RCA box set with some 17 albums, re-mastered, Nilsson’s voice is crystal clear, and the discs are sprayed with bonus tracks, outtakes, commercials and live radio sessions. Although its a lot of Nilsson, it is one of the best deluxe editions I have bought and reminds everyone just how great a singer Harry was.
He didn’t tour, his home in London was jinxed, his voice was blown apart on the recording of Pussy Cats, and then he was gone at a very early age from the highly predictable heart failure.
The RCA Albums Collection is a fitting tribute to a great artist.

My Dear Hedley,
I knew you had bought the box set and have been listening to the albums which is probably why Harry was in my head.
I went and read all about him as I didn’t know a whole lot. All that talent gone so young!

Cocaine is a very cruel mistress.

MDH,
So many musicians and actors and so many drugs

How about the fact that both Mama Cass and Keith Moon died in Nilsson’s flat on Curzon Street…Then he sold it to Pete Townshend

I highly recommend you find a copy of the documentary, “Who Is Harry Nilsson (And Why Is Everybody Talkin’ About Him?).” I was always a lukewarm Harry fan, but this film really turned up the temperature on my appreciation of the man. More info here:

Im6
Glad to hear of your interest, so much to listen to. You might want to drift in to the box set, relax in your recliner in Austin and enjoy.

I think I have plenty of Harry in my collection, Juan. Plus, I grabbed lots of rarities from the (now defunct) web site “For The Love Of Harry.” In addition to being talented, Schmillson was also prolific!

And you listen to Pussy Cats and his beautiful voice was gone
Well Mr Austin, what controversy when Made in California shows up. We will bore the heck out of the KTCC coven (if that is the right collective)

You’ll have to talk to yourself about Made In California. I may be a Beach Boy fan, but I’m not a stupid Beach Boy fan. That won’t be added to my collection. I have plenty of “definitive” versions of their catalog already!

I cancelled MIC. Just too crazy a price

MDH,
I knew about Mama Cass but not Keith Moon. I don’t think I’d buy that apartment, ad I’m not superstitious.

A real shortage of Little Fluffy Clouds near that place

MDH,
Just black threatening clouds

im6,
I am looking for it on line right now!

It’s time for the KTCC crew to jump on the Harry train.
August 19, 2013 at 7:29 pm
MDH,
I played him today-I’m already on the train!
August 19, 2013 at 7:56 pm
Note im6 is claiming that he is the Engine Driver

MDH,
Coven? Nope, not the KTCC collective name. We could use charm as in hummingbirds, a band (a bit of a play on words) as in jays and my personal favorite an exaltation as in larks.
As for that train-you were the first to jump on so I guess you get to pick: passenger or Engine Driver.
