Circa 1970 on his solo album and then Eric was gone and would not resurface until the Rainbow concert in 1973. All over the viaducts and bridges the pre Banksy script appeared “Clapton is God” .
I would not see Eric again until July 31 1976 when he was on the other side of a small pond, playing in a Shell at the Crystal Palace. I had to sit through Freddie King; The Chieftains; The Jess Roden Band; Barbara Dickson; Dick and the Fireman before Eric.

My Dear Hedley,
I never saw this in 1970 as I was in Africa. When I came back, I had a lot of catching up to do, but I didn’t find Eric until much later then I had to backtrack.
I don’t think I could have lasted through all those other acts.

Seriously Kat, I remember it as brutal and had to look up the support acts. Eric wasn’t really on that day but there were to be other adventures.
