Maggie the Westie and I were rolling early, as she went for grooming before her knee operation on Thursday. As we cruised down Adams Road, the BBC World Service gave us the very sad news that JJ Cale had passed away at the age of 74. Self effacing he denied the concept of a Tulsa sound and asserted that his songs were better sung by others.
When Clapton recorded “After Midnight” Cale had the opportunity to become a recording artist in his own right. Layton also recorded “Cocaine” and Lynyrd Skynyd’s version of “They call me the breeze” is a show standard.
Good albums, great musician, fantastic song writer.

MDH,
My cat couldn’t jump-no push off because of that leg. After the surgery, nothing could stop her either.
