“You have to jump into disaster with both feet.”
Wow, the day is a delight. The sun is warm and bright, and the temperature will be in the 70’s. I went outside earlier and actually repotted a plant. The sun must have stripped away the lethargy the rain had brought. My grass is lush and green. The front garden is beautiful. If I were given one day to create, it would be much like today.
I have a couple of things I need to pick up at the store and one load of wash to do, but that’s it for my entire list of Saturday chores. I’ve already made my bed and emptied the cat litter. I think one of the pod people has inhabited my body. Never am I so productive this early in the morning.
I heard a faint beep and didn’t know if it was inside or outside. I walked to the back door to check. Gracie was standing on the deck and she was baying with her head in the air and her mouth opened the same way her cousins the wolves bay at the moon. Somewhere an auto alarm was one continuous beep, and it bothered poor Miss Gracie. I hadn’t ever seen her bay before this. When the noise finally stopped, so did Gracie.
My outside shower needs some care and tending. It seems the spawns had used the front part as some sort of shelter. Stripped pine cones are piled on the floor. The spiders live in the back where the shower head is. Webs are across from one side of the shower stall to the other. The spiders were quite creative though none reached the heights Charlotte did.
A column in the Cape Times the other day gave me a chuckle. It was about the blue Evacuation Route signs which have been erected directing people to the Mid-Cape Highway. Putting them up was a mandate tied to highway funds; however, they’re silly when it comes to Cape Cod. Perhaps the tourists will flood the roads in their haste to leave, but the rest of us know better. If there is a hurricane with heavy winds, the bridges are always closed. That means no getting off Cape unless by water, but a hurricane would make that impossible and deadly. In Plymouth is the Pilgrim Nuclear Generating Station, the only nuclear power plant operating in the state. If there is an accident there and evacuation is necessary, the route off Cape would take us right into the accident zone. People with boats could escape by water. I’d have to swim.

Hi Kat,
They have a habit of putting those nuclear power plants smack in the middle of things. As I recall, the residents around Seabrook had the same situation. If the thing went pear-shaped, the general advise was to put some jam in your pocket cause we’re all going to be toast. 🙂
On my way to the laundry in the cellar I noticed that there were only two cans of dog food on the shelf. I just bought a dozen. Then came the realization that I left them in the back of the jeep which is now in the garage being reconstructed. I’ll have to drop by Monday morning and see if they will retrieve them for me.
The day is just as lovely up here. I have not repotted anything though I have a couple that need it. I have done laundry. I have contemplated the vacuum but that’s as far as I’m going. 🙂 I will be knitting with friends later this afternoon and that’s always a good time.
Enjoy the lovely day.

Hi Caryn,
I just bought a case of dog food and a bag of dried. With my back being iffy I left the dry in the car with the bird seed and the cat litter. I’ll have to get someone to carry them into the house.
The deck needs sweeping but I don’t care. I’m heading out there in a bit just for the sunshine. I called my factotum Skip and hope he’ll be by to do some grunt work for me.
I need a few more cucumber plants. For some reason they are not doing well. That will be a tomorrow trip.
Enjoy your knitting afternoon!!

Pilgrim is a pretty good operating station. Saves millions of tons of CO2/sulfur dioxides, particulates a year.
And I wouldn’t worry. Death toll from Japan earthquake/tsunami estimated to be 20,000. Death toll from Fukishima reactors – zip. The Fukishima reactors suffered through as bad of an event as one could dream up and although the reactors were destroyed, the effects were limited to the near vicinity.

Spaceman,
One of my friends is a supervisor at Pilgrim. He works alternating days and nights. He also seems to study all the time for another test.
I don’t worry. It is just those signs made me chuckle. They have no value whatsoever.

He sounds like an Operations supervisor. Those guys have to requalify to keep their licenses every year. Involves 4 or 5 full weeks of annual requal training – more than any other profession I know of.
Nuks are good stuff; Chinese and Koreans are building them as fast as they can, Indians, UAE, east Europeans, too. USA moving backward – 4 US reactors have permanently ceased operations in last several months. Replacement power is typically natural gas plants. Science 101 lesson: any plant that burns something (coal, natural gas, oil, ethanol, trash) makes CO2 and a lot of it.
And the correct pronunciation is ‘skeeter.

Spaceman,
That’s exactly what he does: requalify. He spends all his spare time studying when that time comes around.
I know the limitations of fossil fuels and the spewing of CO2 into the air so I don’t complain about nuclear plants. If the crew is as conscientious as my friend, we are in the best hands.
Skeeter always reminds me of Skeeter Davis.

i loved the original movie Invasion of the body snatchers! I was quiet young and couldn’t sleep all night 🙂 🙂
What a wonderfgul evacuation road 🙂 🙂 🙂 No matter what one do one is doomed 🙂 🙂
Mostly sunny and warm here today but a nasty rainweather/thundestorm is coming in from Denmark tonight they say. I don’t need more rain it will only bring more flies and mosquitoes. We don’t have that many yet and it would be nice if it stayed that way 🙂
Have a great day!
Christer.

Christer,
I love that movie too. “They’re here. They’re here.”
Yup, that is the road to doom, but the state had to put up those signs or lose highway money from the federal government.
I was outside sitting in the sun. It is warm and lovely. Gracie was lying on the lounge in the shade. She loves being outside.
We saw our first mosquito the other early evening!!
Have a great evening.

So it’s the pods who are inhabiting my body–sigh of relief. I imagined much worse. It seems lately wherever I jump I am jumping into disaster. Our power was out most of the day and came back on at about 3pm. The garden looks wonderful, it is sunny and breezy, and Simone is doing well.
I can just picture the evacuation route!
Waving,
All of us…..

Lori,
Yup, the pod people took over while you were sleeping. Why did your power go out?
I’m glad your garden is doing so wonderfully. Few things are prettier than brightly colored flowers.
It is good Simone is settling in so well!!
Waving back!

I don’t know why the power went out. I suppose later it will be in the mews.
I remember! Look:

Thanks, Lori!
I love this original. The remake wasn’t near as good.

I started freezing down my spine when I saw this 🙂 🙂 🙂

Christer,
It is such a great movie!!

In case of a nuclear accident: Duck and Cover?
The Ella cover is great, you just need a duck…
Never mind, back to important topics, bad movies.
A fake movie trailer, you may like:

Birgit,
Ha, love that I already have a cover, Now for that duck….
This was the strangest trailer, and you are right, I liked it. I usually enjoy the bizarre, and this fits the bill. Thanks for this. How in the heck did you find it?
