Minicapt,
A couple of years ago I was in Colorado during rutting season. We traveled through Estes park and were privileged to see an elk with his harem of 10. He was bugling the whole time we watched. Another bull came and started bugling. The two bugled back and forth until the other bull decided he was not going to get that harem. My brother-in-law who has lived in Colorado his whole life said he had heard bugling but had never seen the elk doing it.
